Please Help on KSC Mk23
Hello, I recently purchased a used KSC MK23 in good condition, however the owner wasn't sure when the manufacture date was. At first he said it was from 2006, then 2005 and when asked for clarification he hasn't responded. This part probably belongs in the guns discussion section, but I thought it would be easier to pose everything here.
The recoil spring seems different than what I'm seeing in the diagrams (this one game with none so I had to get one from ASC) as there is only one spring instead of two. The slide is VERY sloppy returning to battery and I'm concerned. Next, the trigger seems to stick sometimes as though there is not enough force to push it back in place, would I need to replace the spring or just use some lube? One more thing I just found, when I'm holding the gun on its side and rack the slide, the slide catch falls out. Is this normal? The first shot usually feels a bit weak but after the third shot, there is a more defined kick to the blowback. Any ideas on what can help? I've also added some pics, and was hoping someone could identify exactly what model this gun is, heavyweight, phase 2, etc... Markings include; on slide, HK US-GOVT. Cal. .45 23047 (B), Markings on frame; 23-047, HK .45 serial number made in Germany. And on the mag, RESTRICTED LAW ENFORCEMENT GOVERNMENT USE ONLY 10-94 Heckler & Koch GmbH etc... I did search, but nothing pertaining to my exact question. Thanks for your help -Nathan Last edited by sanosuke689; April 11th, 2007 at 23:07.. |

The stock recoil spring on a KSC MK23 is horribly soft. As a whole the gun is quite sloppy. The diagram you have is probably for a USP 45' (wich has two springs) but the MK23 has only one, and it doesn't even deserve to be called a spring. As for your first shot having no power, I wonder if you are using propane? If so the hammer spring is also not very strong, so it doesn't completely depress the magazine valve on the first few shots, untill the pressure in the mag. has dropped down a bit. I have had mine sitting in the box almost since new, and I am still debating wether or not it's worth putting a spring set and metal slide kit in it. If you want the spring kit ILLusion has one in stock. It has the recoil spring & the hammer spring. It should take care of the pressure issue with the magazine and the recoil spring might stop the slide stop from falling out. As for the trigger sticking, someone might have had the gun apart before you got it and did not put a certain piece back in correctly. I had the same problem with mine after having it apart for a good cleaning and had a hard time finding the problem. It was a small lever attached to the safty mechanism. It's a little hard to explain exactly where it is without looking at it. See if the safty works with the hammer dropped and with the hammer cocked. Hope this helps.

Hey, thanks for your help. I'm going to PM illusion now for the spring set and i'll take a look at the trigger mechanism. Once again, thanks ironsight!
