Star M249 MK2 Question

Just wondering if anyone knows if the Star M249 mk2 can use armalite mags (m4/m16) like the classic army version. I ordered it the gun, but due to my fields rules, no highcaps are allowed, including box mags.

heres a pic of what i mean: http://www.foa.ic.cz/down/obr/ca249p.jpg

thanks in advance

Because the Star is:
A) Cheaper
B) More Reliable
C) Comes with a Box mag (Auto-winding to boot)
D) Its lighter
E) Comes with that sweet sweet case

A) its still 2/3 the price of a CA249...worth it in my opinion but those on a tighter budget STAR is the way to go
B) swap out the craptastic CA piston/piston head with good polycarb ones and your good to go. STAR are also known for failing motors and a piston problem similar to CA's I believe.
C) true, takes about $150 off the total cost it takes to get it up and running
D) Pansie...
E) tell me about it, though I've decided to invest in a Pelican 1720 to carry my CA249 around in

STAR also uses all mini connectors which have much higher resistance. This reduces your rate of fire, causes heat buildup, kills your battery faster (relative to the number of shots), and can melt in some cases.

As long as you have patients, Raygis Lasvagas is doing a gun group order this summer assuming nothing goes terribly wrong till then. There is also a STAR M249 para in the sale section right now.

well of the 11 or so M249s in manitoba right now, theres only one thats a STAR, it also happens to be the only one thats not working.
for the price, its probably more economical to get a CA249, because you wont spend your money on failing plastic parts, bad wiring and the motor problems that i've heard are consistent with most STAR AEG's.
personally i think if your an LMG, your gun should weigh more than an M4 with a metal body. Thats why I bought a G&P

He doesn't have a website nor does he run a store. I have no idea what he does but hes capable of bringing in guns and does group orders from Redwolf, WGC, and direct from CA. Raygis Lasvagas is his ASC name.

I've had a STAR M249 and I'm not going back, I can one hand the thing like a piston almost as easily as I can my FMU G19. The weight of the gun should be a disadvantage to any LMG. The G&P one weighs the same as the real steel M249 but has a ver.2 mechbox, the CA one weighs a little less (6.6kg instead of 7.2kg) but has a solid brick for a mechbox.

You can hammer nails with the CA gearbox. If you ask me, there's a reason a metal replacement is being offered for the STAR now.

actually if you compare the G&P 249 to its realistic counterpart (an M249 with no magazine adaptor; the FN Minimi SPW), the G&P is heavier by about 1.5kg
http://world.guns.ru/machine/mg17-e.htm
The weight does make a difference, but as an LMG you do go prone quite often so you atleast have a chance to recover your strength.
To those of you who use it and use it well, your making airsoft more realistic and therefore more fun. As long as your using the star 249 like its supposed to be used, thats awesome, I just prefer realistic weight weapons.

Funniest part is, people who use 249s as a big rifle or a run-and-fire weapon dont realize how cumbersome and innacurate their gun really is and it actually makes them easier targets lol

Well you dont want any MG to be as accurate as a rifle. You want that cone effect. Altho I do find my ca249 to be as accurate as my M4. But I will agree that it is much more cumbersome.
