Review - Madbull 6.03 Black Python Tightbore

Ever since i dropped in a new mechbox and a longer front end on my m4 it felt incomplete. It needed one part to make it completely functional and practical. The 5 inches of empty outer barrel space due to that pesky m4 barrel i still had inside needed to be filled. I had been searching high and low for a replacement m16 length (509 or 510mm) barrel, preferably something tightbore.

As i was browsing over Jugglez website airsoftparts.ca i noticed he had some new brand of tightbore's i have never heard about or seen before, madbull. I have known madbull to make some odd's and ends, but never knew they made tightbores. Anyways, thanks to jugglez that space is filled lol. And my wallet wasnt even hurt.

If your looking for a great barrel with a sexy black finish (just makes your gun look more real if your inner comes to the end of your outer, no brass to be seen) I would highly recommend the Madbull line Jugglez carries. He says they are fairly new world wide and not many asian retailers even carry them yet. Sofar it seems to be fairly accurate, no range report to show just yet though. At 6.03 it is the tightest i would recommend going on an inner. This barrel is also very cost effective, i paid under 60 bucks for the barrel and a hop rubber to get to my door express shipped. Versus the 80 or 90 your looking at spending on a prometheus. I am not sure which brand is better, but i know if i need another tightbore ill be going with madbull.

I suck at writing reviews, i know there isnt much about the barrel, but i just installed it today and havnt had much time to shoot stuff at distances so i cant say for sure how accurate it will be. but in my basement plinking adventures, it seems great. The label even says it increases performance by 15% lol! Anyways, if you have any questions just shoot me a pm and ill try to answer them.

I picked up a 650mm one (Redwolf) just because it was the retardedly longest that I could find. I must admit that the weight of the tube made me worried at first. Compared to the brass tight bore barrels I am used to, this coated aluminum? one seemed very fragile. After installation I was duly impressed with the fitting and qaulity of the barrel. I find that the coating is something quite unique and seems to be better scratch resistance then the normal brass tightbores. The workmanship is flawless and to boot, it is a sexy black. I would recommend these Madbull barrels completely too!

ahh right, the version 2 barrel And yes, it is extremely light, i was like wow, this cant be metal when i first opened the tube up. If anybody needs a low cost tightbore, i know where im sending them!

Our team has ben using two of these barrels (Version 2's) in ICS M4s for the last month or so. I used to have a Systema 6.04 in my ICS (borrowed from my TM M4), carried out light upgrades to the ICS, and shot some before and after groupings. The Madbull barrel produced ever so slightly tighter groupings then the Systema, and I had less flyaways. I'm quite impressed with them, and they're affordable to boot!

is this easy to install for some who has never opened a mechbox?

Shouldn't have to tinker with your mechbox to install a tightbore (the barrel assembly and hopup are separate from the mechbox), so its just basically just a simple replacement.

Unless you get a PSG-1 or greater length inner barrel, in which case you would probably need to install a bore-up kit, which would involve opening your mechbox.

i have one installed on my g36c now, but i find that it veers to the right a lot with it. Do i need to install new hop up rubbers to fix this?

I would first re-check your install and make sure the inner barrel is aligned properly.

how hard/easy are these to chop? CQBR length....

pretty sure i have it aligned properly i tried taking it apart and repositioning it several times with little luck

Goldman, these barrels have an inner coating on them, so cutting them down *may* cause that to flake/chip. Might be better to go with plain brass or SS...I have no experience with these particular barrels, but back in the day when I used to play paintball I had a number of "coated" barrels - all the ones I cut down eventually suffered from bubbling/flaking/peeling of the coating, ruining the barrel. Just a word of warning....but I already threw $350 worth of barrels in the trash even after trying to buff out the inner coating, but maybe someone can learn (and save their cash) from my experiments?

Skruface did you use a pipe cutter or some sort of saw?

Pipecutters are meant to not damage the material you are cutting so they would probably work better, just a suggestion

Correct me if Im wrong but dont pipe cutters pinch the pipe to cut it. Ive used a pipe cutter to cut a copper pipe once and it squeshes the pipe while cutting. I dont think you would want to do that with a AEG barrel.

Purhaps a dremel would be best. Just go slow and cut 1mm at a time so not to cause it to overheat.
