Bad Gun Fixes...

I bought some gun parts and internals and brought them to Manchovie for him to put together. Once I finally got the mechbox back, it didn't work at all. I then took it back to him at ASCA to have him fix it, and gave it to HonestJohn who took it on Manchovies behalf. According to ASCA, they don't have anything to do with Manchovies gun repairs, but he uses thier store to fix guns. In the last 3 weeks, I spoke to him over msn, and he told me he was working 3 jobs, and didn't know if he would have time to fix it. Now he tells me he doesn't have the time. My issue is if he says he can fix a gun in a timeframe, he should do it, and if he's working 3 jobs at once, he should tell the people who come to him for help. I have heard several other stories about Manchovie like this from a few other people, that I'm not going to name here. I strongly advise people who are thinking of having work done by Manchovie to get a firm time estimate from him before agreeing to get the work done, and make sure he sticks to it. I ask the mods to not delete this thread because I speak the truth, and deleting it would suggest covering up a friends mistake at the expense of his "client". I don't have ill will against manchovie, but I don't like his lack of respect for his work.

we had a gun upgraded by bartek not too long ago, and he was spectacular with it. we just walked in when he happened to be working and bam, he said he'd do it right there on the spot. the best part was that he said it would probably take him a week to get back to us, and then he called us the following Monday (we came on Friday). the gun worked flawlessly, and even shot at 420fps a few times (it was usually a consistent 391).

great job, maybe you just got a lemon fix...

thats great for you he had my mechbox for almost 3 months doing the upgrades when he said it would take a week. I paid for a service and for the time frame other wise i would of taken it to someone else that can have it done in the time frame they promise. It also sucks when u expect to have your mechbox back so that you can get ready to play a game coming up but then find out it's not ready cause he is too busy and that he has your money for the work but ends up not doing in the time frame causing you to miss out in your team's games and other ASC member hosted games. now please stop spamming my thread. That is your experience, so how does it relate to my problem

Did you already pay for work done?

If you did, then I'd simply ask for my gun and money back. If it's not already finished, check to see if you can just get your gun back and go with someone else to install/repair it.

This time of year is very busy for people. Christmas shopping, christmas planning, final exams for those who are in university.

When someone asked me how long it would take to get their camera fixed, I'd just give them a rough quote, that's the best we could do, however when someone comes back a week or three later yelling at us telling us that it's been too long, well sorry, but there are other things happening in the world that are not directly connected to your life.

Give it time, or ask for your gun back and fix it yourself I figure.

i understand the time of year but this was dropped off 3 weeks ago and was told it would be fixed by the end of the week that is fine but if Manchovie cant get it done in that time frame dont give out a time frame or do accpet the money until the work is done..

OK, but again, did you already pay for the work to be done?

Have you talked to Manchovie about compensation for him not meeting the agreed upon deadline?

If Manchovie would return messages, I'm sure he could ask him

What are your specific technical complaints? Are you sure that your mechbox was installed correctly in your gun? There are many ways for a perfectly functional mechbox to be installed in a manner which causes problems for the operation of the whole gun. It is very difficult to troubleshoot an assembly which has been installed into a greater mechanism by remote means.

Manchovie actually does have obligations to three employers at this time. Usually he's pretty quick with repairs, but stock outages on certain parts may delay his work.

While Manchove does do repairs at ASCA, ASCA does not take responsibility for his work. It's not because we don't trust his work. We're unable to properly deal with the variances in labor charges. Initial job quotes can go wrong when unexpected problems are encountered so we (ASCA) are not able to directly offer Manchovies repair work. It's messy having a mechanic communicate through the store to a customer. It's more transparent to have him deal with the customers and work out quotes directly so we only supply parts for repairs as a third party. Also, employing Manchovie as a mechanic would require that we mark up his labor to the customer. We prefer to not take that margin and offer Manchovie's direct labor costs to the customer which is better for both parties in the end.

Unless you really describe how it malfunction, we can't really say anything. Do you just want us to join your bashing without knowing the situation some more? Did you install your mechbox properly, did you test the mechbox on the spot when Bartek finished it, etc etc?

I have a mechbox with Bartek right now under repairs, he's been very prompt in terms of how the repair is going and what he suggests to replace to ensure the life of the mechbox internals. My experience with him is pretty good so far.

Just understand the fact Gun Doctors aren't exactly full time jobs, it pays a bit as compensation for using up their spare time, but it's nowhere near to be a job to pay the mortgage or feed the family.

hey, sorry about the late reply, and the late repair. krooked atmosphere's complaint is a two parter, there were two labor sessions on his aeg. the first of which was a parts install in a mechbox in which i received a mechbox but no aeg. no testing could actually be performed so i take no responsibility for the results of the upgrade. apparently the gun failed after mechbox install by the client (improper assembly?) so after a few months it came to the armoury complete with gun. at this point there was a fair lineup due to a heavy demand for upgrades/repairs due to the holiday buying season and start of the winter gaming schedule. i was in touch with krooked the whole time and unfortunately had to keep moving back the expected completion date of his gun.
today i found out it was needed for saturday the 23rd (tomorrow) with a fair amount of anger. i offered to drop by the store after my resposibilities and skip his upgrade ahead of those of previous customers so that it'd be ready for his team practise. after finding out the store is closed early due to holidays, i politely let him know and later returned home to find this thread.
i'm not providing an upgrade/repair service to make a million dollars, i figure that it's my duty to the community to contribute. i don't keep my techniques a secret, in fact anyone is welcome to watch me repair their gun. there aren't many airsoft mechanics in this country so i take time out of my busy life (3 jobs, not to mention returning to school in the new year) to do my part for the airsoft community, which i love. if you missed your team practise as a result of being in line i apologize. i have no problem working on your gun, in fact i would love to have it purring and on the field, but if you can't live with me not riding your ass the same way you ride mine you can find another gun smith. i can finish the aeg by next week like i told you or i can return it with your payment, this is zero skin off of my back.
also, what can other people possibly contribute to YOUR experience with me? why not let them talk about their positive experiences (there are hundreds by now) the same way you talk about your negative one? who could possibly rightly contribute if they follow your rules, god forbid they blemish YOUR reputation the same way you're attempting to publicly blemish mine?

i'm sad it had to come to this, and that this thread exists to begin with, and feel bad about whoever wasted his time looking at it.

PS merry christmas

I was there when Brad and Miles were about to close down early for obvious holiday reasons. (After fondling all the fun toys of course)

The problem is not from me installing the mechbox into the aeg i have done plenty of times with my other aegs. I sent Manchovie the mechbox in the begining to get the internals upgraded. I was building a custom gun for this mechbox so all the parts were not in yet at the time of the work done on my mechbox. He then never said anything about wanting a complete aeg to do testing on it otherwise i could of brought him the parts since he had it for 3 months.. when i did come to finally pick up the mechbox from ASCA store i brought the parts the only thing i forgot was my inner barrel and grip. I ended up buying a inner barrel there and he then could of tested it. and in fact i told you about needing this back and running for last week but u didnt have time to do it so give the excuse i told you i needed it just yesterday. I would love to have my money back for the cost of the repair and take it to another gun doctor who would fix this and then can explain what the problem was. and not from installing the mechbox into the body.
so if we could arrange a time when i can get my money back and my aeg they way i brought it to you that would be great

i dont know how to explain the problem with my mechbox. i put the first mag in and flicked the lever to semi and aimed and fired at the target and nothing came out so i was like ok maybe misfeed took themag out and tried another mag still nothing making noise that it is shooting nothin coming out so then i take the silencer off and see if i causing that. tried shooting again and finally it shot something. go again and its shooting fine then i switch to full and it gives a little burst of 3 bbs and i was like ok it works not . switch back to semi to lessen the tension on the spring from full auto and thats when it mad a werid grinding noise and locked right up. it makes a noise when u pull the trigger but no movement of anything in the mechbox. chekced the battery and it is fine then checked the mags i used on my other friends aeg and the mags worked fine. hopefully that explains the problem i will no forsure when i get it repaired.
