Dracheous + Material + Sewing Machine = Beer
So I sat down and did the costs of me buying all the gear I want, and then sat down and did the costs of me just getting the material. And well material won out, I have a couple pictures of some of the gear I've made.
I have two peices that turned out great and one that was so-so. First up is the holster for my Hi-Cappa; The strap is adjustable and the holster will fit just about any pistol I have. The only one it doesn't fit is my P99, but thats cause it has a huge RAS on it, otherwise it fits just fine. One thing to note on the holster was I intended to sewing strips of webbing on it to do a MOLLE design, but I rang out of Coyote brown webbing and thought I'd leave the black webbing off. Next I just finished this in the wee hours of the morning. My dump pouch, its surprising turned out really well. And it can hold quite a few mags, I can drop all 8 of my MP5 mags in with out having to shove one. Now I am limited at the moment on M16 mags but when I stuck the four I have there looks ample room to get another 4 in there. However my AK mags just take up so much damn space, with the four I have in there, I'd maybe get two more in before I am jamming them in with a hammer. there are two strips on the back to use ALICE clips to mount it to my molle. I am working on making some molle straps for it at the moment. Next is my not so well peice. The thing that is noticed right away, YES that's black thread. I ran out of thread and was having such a pain with this one that I wanted to keep going, so I slapped on a spool of black just to get it finished. That flap for the mag pouch needs to be taken off and a new one put on that is longer for the magazine. Again the strap is adjustable and I could put other pistols in this holster. This was designed to hold my G26C, the back up to the back up. And yes there will be a back up to the back up OF the back up. |

I will trade you my woman and fifty bucks if you make one that holds 8-10 m4 mags!

For anything using the PALS webbing, I found it best to just use black zip-ties/tiewraps/etc. They are cheap and easy to get, and work perfectly, generally much better than snap closure MOLLE straps yet not as good (or expensive) as the nice ones CP Gear sells. Best thing about using tie-wraps, is that you can angle your pouches a lot easier than you can when dealing with straps and shit that pretty much forces you to install 90deg to the PALS webbing.

woman?.. you mean that blow up doll you wrote "Demi Moore" on? Stalker I like that idea, in fact I'm off to the hardware store, wait, no I have a ton of those black tie wraps in my computer box. Shit now where is that box. You know the worst thing about organization is everything gets a box, but finding the damn box is the pain in the ass! >.<

Because Beer seems to get rid of my headaches faster Kit.
Anyway, Stalker was buggin' me about my battery rig so I'm gonna show it off now. Even though its not fully finished. When I get more material the wire is going to be sewn between two strips so that it goes up through the shoulder like the sling does. It hangs the gun where I like it, is extremely comfy, but like Stalker has pointed out and even though I like to bug him and push him to keep yelling "NOOB" more times than he can yell "*****!" It still needs to be put through some game trials.

Well, I got annoyed with the attempts at magazine pouches so I thought I'd try something completely new.
Also has a pouch on the inside so that I can stick a small water bladder; Also has tonnes of space inside to store some extra stuff ie. shirt sweater and such. Now I'll admit there are some mistakes been made, mostly with the zipper and the bottom side pieces, but this is a first attempt EVER at doing something like this. Sewing the arch was rather... interesting to say least.

more beer
Okay, I've become a little weiry of my phantom mag pouches. They make alot of noise, are sometimes a pain with different magazine types ((ie. metal ones)) and just over all take too long to get a mag from. Also don't like the flap, for the sake of keeping a SMALL bit of sand out I find them just a bit useless (Yes sand gets in anyway, thank you Rawdan). SO! I made some of these!
Okay, so I only have one made so far, and 9 left. But its actually the easiest damned thing I've sewn yet. Maybe its cause its like the 5th or 6th or I might have bumped my head doing that back pack. Anyway more pics. I plan to make atleast 9 more of these. If anyone wants some let me know and based on demand I might make some more. I'd be looking some where around $10 a pop on these things (decent and consider its $30+ for some of the better bigger guys that make this stuff out there)

the problem I have with doubles is getting two straps that go over each mag individually. Although I guess I could just make a single strap that secured both magazines. Or, you could just get two and strap one to the front! :P Hazard I'll just have to get a mag off you to give it a shot. I've worked out the pattern so that I can replicate these "fairly" easy, so I'd have to do the same for the G36. Also planning to try and make some of these for my AK mags, but I'll leave that for the next case of beer.

Got the second one made up, lot cleaner than the first ((of course :P)). Graham -> I don't have an M-14 ((yet)) so I don't have a mag to try to fit one to it. But from looking at pics it appears to be the same size as an Armalite mag only shorter. Is that correct?

Dracheous nice work, if you have not already you should check the diytactical.com forums. I find them to be a good source of ideas to steal. they also have a store for raw material.
