High Flow Valves

I have a custom p99 with metal slide, recoil spring guide, metal outer barrel, and accurat inner barrel. I also have 4 mags with high flow valves and for some reason two or more keep taking a dump on me. I can't even shoot 100rnds before they started to leak. One was fine until before a game and then as I was loading up started to leak, the other went 1hr and when I did a refil it started to leak. My question is...do I need them to shoot green gas? and if so how do i stop myself from having to buy new valves every week?thnks

You know about our Doctor's Corner and Upgrades sections? You really should ask someone to move your post there where it belongs.

For the rest, be precise; what did you do, what did you use, step by step.

They all have different smells... propane itself doesn't have a smell, smells are added by propane bottlers so you'll know if there's a leak. Propane and green gas will act the exact same in your gun.

ok. I ordered 4 high flow valves from wgc. I then sent the valves and the mags to airsoft atlanta to get them assembled and installed. I get them back and 3 of the 4 work. so i send the other one back. It gets fixed and then by the time it gets to me it leaked again. So then i waited to get some money to buy some new ones, and this time i asked wgc to assemble them. in the meantime i play with the other three. After one game, two started leaking. Then i get some money and order 3 assembled valves form wgc. I get them before a game, so rather than ship them out again, i installed them. When i installed them i used the silicone spray you get whn u order the gas package from airsoft atlanta...the one with two cans, and bag of bb's, and silicone spray. Then the next day at the game..they started to leak..now 2/4 work. But my question is do i need to have them if im gonna shoot top gas? i have the slide and spring upgrade, but do i need the valves?

Oh by the way when i put 134a or top it leaks.

edit: the leaks are where the mag meets the valve on the back of the mag.

try screwing the valve in some more.

or try adding plumbers' teflon tape to the threads and then screw it back in.

If it's leaking from the release valve and not the threading around it, you may need to dismantle the valve and replace the orings inside.

Submerge the mag in some water to determine the source of the gas leak.

Never let your mag sit (even for a few days, something I learned with one of my KJW M700 mags) without gas in it. They start to leak bad after a while without gas in. Fill your mags, and dip them under water if you aren't able to sort out just where they are leaking from. I'll mention automotive gasket maker/sealer to fix leaks in GBBs mags, but I can't recommend where you can get some (I got mine from Canadian Tire, but since you are in the US, you are literally S.O.L. there.)

good call, i'll try those ideas. where can i get the tape from? and i hope i dont have to keep replacing the o-rings though after every game.

edit: thnks for the info CDN_Stalker..i do leave gas in the mag. I also know where the leaks are cause the moment i put the gas in it just shoot right out like i drilled a hole in the mag. And i'll try to find some gasket sealer at one of the auto shops around here

For shits & giggles, what temperature have you been using your GBB in? I mean, if recently and you are in the northern states, that might explain why you are having issues, if this has been happening to you all year, we'll have to continue trying to pinpoint your troubles.

BTW, the tape you ask about is white teflon tape, it's available at any store that sells plumbing supplies (like the basic hardware store.)

Well my first leak was during the summer, but the last two its been 50 degrees, which would make it almost a liquid. But when i actuallly first saw the second leak it was in my house, and with the heat on its almost at 70.

cool i look for the tape then, do u recomend i put the stock valves in for a game i have saturday?

Chances are it was the way the valves were put in, so having the stock valves in might make a difference, might not. Even taking the valves out and putting them back in might get you lucky. Thing being, you'll need to sort out whether it's leaking because of the little O-ring on the end of the valve stem, or leaking around the threads. Good soaking in silicon oil will benefit the O-ring, and either the teflon tape or the gel gasket sealer on the threads will help also.
