One of our own players - ~Ghost~ is currently in hospital after a serious accident. I will post the story rather than explaining it myself. I haven't been able to get up and see him yet, as he's still in ICU. Nate left my team to play on his own team which he has called 82 AA. I will post as soon as the family decides to allow visitors. A trust fund has been set up in his name.

A trust fund has been set up for a Brantford teenager who was seriously injured in a farm accident on Sunday.

Nathan Wyatt Taylor, 17, remains in the intensive care unit at Hamilton General Hospital, fighting infection after being trapped for two hours in frigid pond water. The teen suffered cardiac arrest due to hypothermia and has had surgery to close the wounds on one of his legs.

Taylor was injured while attempting to clear debris from an overflow drain in a pond at a farm on Nith Road, west of Paris.

He was kicking the debris on top of the grate when he fell through, said Natalie Guay, a family friend.

Police said the extreme water pressure sucked Taylor to the drain and held him there.

Guay said Taylors uncle, who was with him at the time of the accident, tried in vain to cut the teens hip waders in an attempt to free him. Guay said the uncle suffered serious cuts to his hands that required skin grafts.

Firefighters and police officers spent almost two hours trying to free Taylor and keep his head above water. The Jaws of Life were eventually used to cut the grate on the drain and the teen was lifted free.

Guay said family, including Taylors mother, father, and stepfather, have been at the teens bedside since the accident. His condition remains critical but stable. He has been removed from a ventilator and is breathing on his own. Infection has prevented doctors from closing wounds on one of his legs.

Guay said the family is grateful to all the firefighters, police officers and neighbouring farmers involved in Taylor's rescue.

She called Taylor a popular Grade 12 student at North Park Collegiate who enjoys sports. He spent six weeks at boot camp this summer pursuing his interest in the military.

Hes a big, athletic kid, said Guay. He likes hunting and fishing. He had so much to look forward to.
