Leaving the battery plugin...

Is it bad to leave the battery(Charged) plugin to the gun for a long period of time? Like for a couple of days.

Read the FAQ, it's in there.

Charge before gaming, remove after gaming and discharge until the next game.

Unless it's a NiMh, word is frequent discharging (or discharging at all) is harmful to the battery.

Frequent discharging or deep discharging is worse to a NiMH.

I did a fair bit of research lately on batteries as was required to power-up my new heavier spring. Just a few pointers I learned in the process: No battery likes to be stored at absolute zero charge, NiCd, NiMH, or lithium. Leave whatever is left after your game in them to tide them over until next use. Before next use, NiCd should be discharged, then charged to prevent it developing a 'memory'. Cycling or discharging NiMHs is not necessary, just top them up before you use them as they will slowly run down naturally. Lithium should never be fully discharged, doing so can damage them, otherwise same as NiMH above.

As for leaving them plugged in to your gun, I've heard you shouldn't, but I haven't yet uncovered why. I'd be open to a clear scientific explanation. My personal experience has shown no ill effect after a year of doing so.

Peas!

If you leave them plugged, there is a trickle drain. The gun also becomes (legally) ready to use, hence unsafe.

I’d like to second that. I always remove the battery to make sure the gun is safe. Demonstrates due diligence.

Not that there is a fully legal reason to remove the battery... but if you are ever stopped by police, having a gun that does not operate when you pull the trigger is a good thing.

Welcome to the other grey areas of this game.

Now, if I recall correctly, he leaves the battery out until he parks. Then he inserts it after showing it for the camera.

NIMH is the best way to go on a battery. No discharge needed.
