MP7 Battery Question....

I just got my MP7(yay!), and got some housekeeping question about it. Since the battery is a NiCd battery it'll need discharging to prevent memory effect right? What can be used to discharge the battery? I am assuming the charger that came with it doesn't do that right?

No such thing as memory in any battery chemistry that's confined to the earth. Orbiting satellites are a different story.

Excessively discharging your battery (ie. every time) is not good for it, especially if the discharge is uncontrolled. I very much dislike dumb dischargers as you have no way of telling what your cell voltage is going down to and you run the risk of cell reversal. If you have a smart discharger make sure you set it for no less than 0.9V per cell, and discharge it about every five charges or so.

Also, cut off the wall wart the charger came with and connect the leads to a REAL battery charger. See the Airsoft Guns Discussion section for several threads relating to how the stock TM charger significantly overcharges the battery, which is also very bad for it.

Oh, I didn't know the ones from ASCA came with modified chargers. Those ought to be alright then as long as you know what you're doing, timer-wise. Hopefully they came with some instructions.
