Marui MP5-SD5?
I am getting my first gun sometime soon and I'm wondering if the Marui MP5-SD5 is a good choice? And also should I get a 240 round mag or stick with the 28-50 round ones? What battery is reccomended?

No.
Save yourself money in the future. Buy a CA B&T one or and ICS one. What you'll get for no more than 100 bucks more will be worth it in the future we the urge to upgrade hits. I personally think hicaps are bloody stupid, but you also have the option of midcaps....more ammo, no dinky rattling like a tard. As for batteries....8.4v will suffice and look for the highest mah rating you can find ie. not Sanyo or any Nicad really. |

Also I'm trying to go for best performance with low cost because my buget isn't too big.
Edit:If I got THIS upgrade do I need anything else not including the new battery. And would a 9.6V battery fit in the stock?

perhaps you should also introduce yourself and post your age on the introduction thread... just an idea.
otherwise realize that getting into airsoft is concidered by most sources in canada to be approximately a $1000 minimum cost from nothing to playing.... and you can always spend more. to answer your question a highcap is fine but not as cool or as much fun. you can find battery info from retailers, and then read rumplefelts post and that should answer prettymuch anything.

The other options I've mentioned will give you good performance.
Think before you blow a few hundred bucks....would like like to spend 450 on a hunk of plastic with no upgrades? Or spend at most the extra hundred bucks from the start and get a metal body and possible "upgrades"? A couple midcaps (if you like) can be had for around $35 a peice if you shop around. And ya, this is not a cheap hobby. |

ummm airsoft isnt really that way... its not something you can just do "around your area". you need to be using a proper field and not just playing in your backyard unless you really want to meet the local swat team and find out how unpleasant they can be. if your just wanting to play in your back yard with your friends and "plink" then get a canadian tire soft air clear gun and use that.

they are the same gun, just one has a sliding stock and the other has a fixed... performance will be identical between them out of the box. the fixed stock can likely take a bigger battery though.

doesnt matter. you need to realize that unless you are playing on your own land with at least 80+ forested acres and no visibility from the road and are all over 18 then playing outside like that is a no go. if your in a city or urban area absolutely do not play outside with airsoft. there is also the concern of insurance since if you play and someone takes a hit in the teeth and knocks one out then you could end up sued, so you better check insurance first.

You do know that you can't import from WGC right? Unless you have permits and licences that the retailers have....
