Winter games- dangerous to your AEG?

hey everybody
I live just outside of Winnipeg and usually on the not so cold days of the winter (-25 to -15 degrees celsius), we go outside on and have small skermishes in the snow-covered woodlands. The games usually are awesome, but i was wondering if i should be worried about my guns freezing, jamming, or plastic parts snapping from the cold. We usually arent as rough on our equipment in the cold because we know of the extra danger.

Generally speaking, the guns will be fine as long as they aren't heavily upgraded. The parts do get cold and can tend to snap more often.

I've found that it can be hard on some batteries though, so you want to keep them warm, otherwise they power out real fast. I use hotpacks and a cloth to protect the battery to keep mine warm.

Use stock guns if possible, like Kid said, no heavily upgraded guns, even more if you use a ver.2. It's always a risk to play in winter tho, it's a gun killer. You want to make sure you don't fall... snapped a metal body and reinforced gearbox by falling on an ice spot.

Sorry for thread-jacking but does this also applies for R/C cars and planes ?? My question being : will batteries work well even if it's cold ??

Batteries are batteries, no matter the application. NiMH bats are more sensitive to cold than NiCd tho.

Hows it more of a risk with a Version 2? I played last year in -32 and 3 feet of snow at deadland with my mp5 and it worked fine you just use semi only, no full auto bursts.

V2 mechboxes have a front end design flaw.

They tend to fail often with high springs or cold weather.

Google 'broken v2 mechbox' to see what I mean.

Ver.2 are weak, it's a known issue. Never said a ver.2 will automaticaly crack under cold use We played in really cold temps here too , and I never had an issue with the gearbox myself, only that slip on ice episode... Team members did have a couple of problems tho. 2-3 guys got broken GB after winter games. In the end, it all depends on how you deal with your guns.

Thanks ppl, really appreciate your advise.. i just needed to get some other opinions cuz the summer is too short here in winnipeg to just shoot for half the year. plus taking a snowblower though 4 feet of show makes for some of the best trench warfare ever. Just when you think your too old for making snowforts......

I've seen a cracked M4 mechbox and heard the difference in firing as it happened. Re-inforced mechbox+ stock spring. The day was pretty warm (snow was melting enough to have us drenched the second we stepped out).
