I have a backpack sprayed OD.

It was black and glowing orange. It's now flat OD for most of it.
I'll take pics when I'm back.

It depends what you want to do with it. If you use Krylon on gear to add a bit of pattern to something that is one colour, or just a dusting to lighten or darken the tone, it looks great. Yes, even on HSGI gear, lol!

If you want to actually change the colur completely, it depends entirely on the materials etc.

Here's a pic of me wearing my Krylon sprayed Safariland holster. It was originally all black, but I painted it tan. The tan turned out great on the plastic parts, but obviously doesn't do a great job of colouring elasticized straps etc, as you can see by the leg straps. It turned out ok on the rigid nylon parts of the holster, ie the belt hanger.

What if you sprayed the elastic parts while they were stretched out? You'd need to set up a brace or mold to hold them stretched out until the paint dried, but it should then retain the new colour.

Thanks. I thought of that too, but only after seeing how the first coat had come out! I did hte first job the night before a game, so I didn't mess around with it too much at the time. I'm also a little worried about hurting the elasticity of it if I fill up all the crevises with paint!

Should work, I had done something similiar but with crappy paint about 12 years ago. No issues with the elastic afterwards, and you shouldnt have to put it on too think, because as it shrinks the colour will tighten and solidify.

Im really with Droc on this (as always, im scared to be on the other side of him, i might lose my self respect) I spent alot on it, and im worried about ruining it. These damn things dont come in black. BTW, if anyones interested in a OD HSGI, and has something black they want to trade, PM me.

Shinjit noir on these boards sprayed his Weesatch, you should be able to find pictures of it in the picture gallery, AND on the forums, as he did do a write-up of it.

If you do decide to paint your OD Weesatch black, let us know how it turns out. Although I suspect it'll look like absolute garbage once the black paint starts to chip and the OD starts to show through. Seriously, all this talk of mollycoddling gear is getting ridiculous. Well-built gear is meant to be used WELL.

After deciding that pattern matching gear to my camo reduces its compatibility with other camo types and looks GHEY, I've painted all my MultiCam pouches khaki and I LOVE IT. Bow down to the spray bomb.

I like the look of black rigs, i know it affects its performance. I figure itll be too much of a hassle to spray under the molle straps and paint all the pouches anyways. Im looking at getting a load out to match my new g36, so something flecktarn or olive drab, just wantwed a little contrast.

This might be a little old but how did you paint that AK? What color was it originally? From how far away did you spray? Few simple questions.
