TM G36:Need help trouble shooting why I don't have semi auto
Alright my last problem has been fixed somehow. I just cleaned it up and all is good. Now I want to tackle a problem I've had for a while that I can't figure out.
Whats happening is that when I dry fire on semi auto and have a magazine in thats not wound, I have semi auto. But when I have that same magazine wound up all the way still on semi auto, when I pull the trigger, it shoots as if i'm in full auto. Its really wierding me out why this is happening and wondering if anyone knew what is going on. thanks in advance |

That sounds impossible. The mag can not determine which mode to fire in. That is weird. I'll think about it and look at my internals to see if I can come up with something.

I believe that the only gun semi-auto works in is the new TM Type 89...Not sure, but I've heard that its never worked in any other guns.

Start with the basics;
Take the mag out, fire in both selections. Put empty mag in, fire in both selections. Put loaded mag in, fire in both selections. Come back and tell us how it went.

Put empty mag in, fire in both selections. Semi Put loaded mag in, fire in both selections. No Semi I would think the problem is fixed because I could dry fire it on semi. But once I tried it with a loaded mag, I would just get full auto no matter what. This also only happens only when I have no trigger spring. With a trigger spring, no matter what happens, I always have no semi. I'm baffled to say the least |

alright, now I have figured out how to have semi. I loosened up the screw that holds the cut off lever, and now it shoots semi with the trigger in place.
However, semi only works when i'm using the bare gearbox, not installed in the lower receiver. I can't really see anything causing this problem. Please give me suggestions. thanks |

G36 answer
i think your problem may have something to do with your contacts on your contact switch inside your gearbox....
when you are attaching the hop-up assembly and there is a connector there right? that connector is attached to the gearbox.... & that is soldered onto your contact on your contact switches..... that's the one getting the strain...after you have assembled your gun look into your mag well there are two wires there.... try moving them or pushing them to 1 side... put the mag back and fire it... you should have your semi back.... that's the one that you need to resolve on how to lessen the strain on the wires... |

im no g36 expert, but what happened to the little grey tab that moves up an down (i believe in the upper front trigger guard by the magwell) does the mag affect the position of that?

It's a fake bolt release. It does nothing other than move up & down.
