25mm computer fans for goggles

I searched for these for sometime and never found em. Hazard recently searched and managed to find an online store that sells em for mounting on goggles to prevent fogging. For me its not so much the goggles that fog but my glasses (I cant stand contacts and laser surgery is out of the question price wise.) None of the computer stores in Sudbury or Ottawa has em that I have found, but if anyone wants some they can be ordered from here

There is one store online that sells them for cheaper but they charged $34US for shipping, I ordered 7 fans and paid $2.50US shipping from hardwarecooling.

Just figured someone out there may be looking for em.

I'm in the same boat as you are glasses wise. After a couple of seasons of screwing around with pball goggle/fan setups, I just got myself a decent sets of tac goggles. I purchased the ESS profile NVG goggles, along with the rx adapter. Had my local hakim optical whip me up a set of lenses, and I havnt looked back since.

Just how good are the profile nvg goggles? Well, I have been to 5-6 events with them so far and zero fogging at all. As well I've worn them biking to work - if they can stand up to the amount of body heat I put off biking 50km on a hot humid ottawa day, then that's pretty much all the torture testing I think they need.

Total cost for the above setup will be about $260ish - expensive but they don't look like ass.

However if you insist on this fan venture, try the source, they usually carry them, or ebay.

The Source only carries 40mm fans, same with ebay (though I havnt searched too much on ebay.)

I'm a tad low on cash at the moment, I eventually wanted to get goggles with RX inserts but for the time being I'm going the route of the fans.

Are the profile NVG that much better than other ones? I'm using ESS Tactical XT's and they fog up like crazy but then again they are listed as the basic version and dont boast any anti-fog tech in them.

Princess Auto carries them, if there's one in your area. They keep them in the surplus section.

The profile series is awesome - tear out the foam "filter" and they never fog.

Yes Active Surplus does carry 25mm fans and lots of them too. You just have to wire things yourself but that's not hard.

Greylocks, sorry for posting in the wrong section, dont know what I was thinking actually.

Drac, Bells corners is a 3 hour round trip on the bus for me, I have to wait longer for it to come in the mail but thats time I can spend doing other stuff and I dont have a rush for the fans as it is so for my online ordering is easiest.

Kokanee, okay, I suck at ebay searches, I mostly sell on ebay or buy from ehobbyasia so I dont spend much time searching.

Darklen, in my experience princess auto carries slightly different things from store to store. I've been to one of the GTA ones (the one near the airport) and the Ottawa one and neither had 25mm fans on the shelf that had all the other fans on it.

Hey there, Kokanee, first post at these forums but I've been looking at getting into this sport for a while and trying to figure out the best eye-protection to suit me since I wear glasses and am looking at alternatives to contacts.

What did you mean by getting 'Hakim to whip up a set of lenses' ?? Dont ESS goggles have their own Rx prescription inserts??

Yeah you can order through ESS, but don't forget the lube and a stick to bite on when you bend over there. Hakim is just a optics store, sells and modifies all sorts of lenses and frames. If you go there they can whip up a set of lenses to fit your ESS goggles...

Heh, Dracheous you got a way with words :P !

If anyone has any pictures of the lenses they can make, as well as the cost it was for them I'd be indepted to them for... oh a good 20 seconds.

However, here's the cost I found at Sealsactiongear.com it doesnt seem bad, but I'm no pro at how much Rx lenses should cost:

ESS Profile NVG Goggles - $120
Wire-Framed Rx Insert - $50

The $50 is just for the wire frame to hold the lenses, it doesnt include any lenses.
