What is the best color for gear that will be used in both CQB and Woodland?
I am going to get myself some BDU's, a vest, etc. that I will be using in both indoor CQB and woodland games. Should I stick with OD Green or Black gear?
Thanks in advance.

OD or Coyote works great in both environments. Or you could just be lazy and buy gear specifically for woodland and then be lazy and wear it inside. :-D

The color is less important than the pattern. A good camo does not "blend" into the environment, but rather breaks up the pattern of your body. Humans use pattern recognition to determine what objects are. No pattern = poor recognition.
I'm not saying that blaze orange and yellow done in a Marpat pattern will allow you to disappear in the bush, but you'd be surprised what works and where. ACU and Urban will work in the bush and Cadpat will work on a boat. It's all about position and how much "pattern" you show your foe.

And that's the real purpose of using a cam net on helmets, to break up the typical round shape of a helmet. Same thing for ghillie suits, it disguises the shape of legs and arms, to something that doesn't grab the eye and fits the environment better.
In CQB, camoflage doesn't matter because you don't stand still too often, and when you are, you're probable silhoetted from some angle so it doesn't matter.

I think your best bet would just be Olive Drab, but as Lerch pointed out, you cant be too camoflauged in CQB, because your on the move or just a plain eyesore from the colors of the wall, so I'd just get a normal Woodland camoflauge and use it for all.

The local emergency response team wears green and woodland camo, as well as black.
I saw them gathered outside a house that's schedueled to be demolished here in town and I thought there was an airsoft game going on, they looked so ramshackle. But then I saw the pattywagon so I knew it was training. When you're looking at smaller SWAT or ERT operations, it's whatever good gear you can get. Because like Lerch says, camo isn't really important in CQB. Time was the SWAT teams armed themselves with whatever they took from the badguys because it was better than what they had, and I'm guessing some are still forced to run that way if they can't afford to buy matching equipment... Then again I happen to know that Kingston ERT has G36s. Maybe they blew their entire budget on guns. I dunno. Also depends on the area they operate. I could see, say a Nevada based SWAT team purchasing desert camo since they may be called into remote desert areas. I personaly own a black MOLLE vest (Black because it was $30 for an otherwise $100 vest) which I am going to cover with green and maybe brown pouches. I will likely use it for both CQB and woodland ops. If I really wanted to match my urban camo, I could buy another set of black pouches for it. But wearing woodland gear and camo in an urban setting won't look stupid at all. If you really don't think you look uniform at all, then just go anyway, go as an irregular. Most CQB scenareos are SWAT or CT against drug lords or terrorists. I think It would help to have some irregulars at a game, that was always my plan. Also because my leather biker jacket would pad me from BBs. |

Or you could buy a pair of cadpat for woodland and show up in jeans and a t-shirt at a cqb game. Camo in a building isnt all that important, but playing in a woodland area it helps. I have played in urban, and am going to be using black as my primary for games starting this saturday. Camo is just the same way as it is with guns, pick what you think will do the job. Just my two cents.

Cammo doesnt matter inside, but I've seen OD flightsuits make the transition well.
