Tokyo Marui M16 A1 VietNam version
Hi, im planning to buy a TM M16 A1 VietNam version. I would like to know your impressions about this gun.
Is it possible to attach a scope on the upper carrying handle of the m-16 or does it needs to be modified heavily to receive a scope? Where would you put a flash light or laser since there is no included rail? Sorry if those question where already answered in a previous thread, im a noob. I hesitate between the TM M16A1 and the TM Steyr Aug civilian. Im also looking for springer for sale.

I don't have one but check out the internal components in the A1, I thought I heard that there was more plastic in them then the other AR models (someone please correct me if I'm wrong) Also the stock is a wee bit shorter than the other A models so if you have long arms that may be uncomfortable.
Also looking for guns in you signature is not allowed I believe. Get age verified and you can browse the buy sell section.

The M16VN is an older version TM armalite that never got updated and probably won't anytime soon. If you're going to keep it stock it'll be fine. But if you want to upgrade to a metal body you might have some difficulty as the design is different then the TM armalites today like M4A1, SR16, etc etc. If you want a decent M16 I suggest getting an M16A2 and getting the A1/VN conversion kits/metal bodies made by G&P but that'll cost a pretty penny.

theres a carry handle mount you can buy that sets a weaver rail atop the carry handle, either short for rds or long for a scope, but usually the short will do for both. or you can buy the g&p m16 scope. there is a flash light mount you can buy that attatches a flash light to the sight triangle, you could probably replace the flash light with a laser, but its kind of a waste, lasers are frowned upon at games usually. |

i have never seen the TM VN but you should be able to put a carry handle mount on it and then attach a scope.
if there is no hole, then you could probably drill one, it is plastic so it shouldnt be that hard. and in my opinion a laser and flashlight would completley ruin a VN version. but thats my opinion, if you want a laser more power to ya.

Pick up the WGC Shop Custom made from all G&P parts/internals.
They run about $600-$650 but they are full metal and the internals are much higher quality. I believe A&A Surplus had some instock, if not, any retailer is usually happy to order them in. |

kid is right, w/ a vn your stuck with the old look. if you get the a4 atleast you can switch back and forth from old to new with optics via the removeable carry handle (acog/ aimpoint) and back with vn hand guards

You should keep in mind that there are two models listed in your thread title, while internally the same, they are still a bit different.
The TM M16VN comes with the old tulip stly flash hider and a 190round VN style Hi-cap, where as the A1 comes with a birdcage flashhider and a 68 round lo-cap STANAG style. As for attaching things. A scope can be affixed to the A1 easil either via a Carry handle mount (The scope sits on a mount, on top of the iron sights), or by purchasing one of the scopes that are designed to mount only on AR style carry handles. it does not matter if they areA1s or M4s, it will still work. There are no rails on the VN/A1, however if you like the look and feel of either the VN or A1, it would not be difficult to mod the handgaurds to hold rails. Also keep in mind that the VN/A1 bodies and front ends are NOT compatible with other TM Armalite siries parts (It has an older design that is not compatible with other TM M4/16 front ends and bodies). Also if i'm not mistaken the VN nozzle is not the same length as the rest of the TM M4/16 line.

Hi, (correct me if i am wrong)
If you are looking to buy an m16A1 Vn you are probubly short of money. If you are not looking to upgrade the gun then You should look at the m16a3fm at: www.Wgcshop.com(i am from the U.S.A and am unaware of shipping issues to Canada) It is inexpensive but not tokyo marui so it may not be as reliable, but it comes with full metal construction. If you are looking to have A gun upgraded to fps above 370 i recomend Getting a CA(Classic army) M16A3 (Almost all CA guns can withstand heavy upgrades) Or a tokyo marui M16A2. |
