Whats the thread size on threaded barrels?
I know they are almost all 14mm threaded barrels, but thats the diameter of the shaft, does anyone know what the size of the thread is? Need bolts that fit on the end.
Putting together some DIY tracer units, currently making some in-mag units and thought that the silencer version still makes more sense when you have multiple weapons with differnt mags (MC51, M733, Sig552) as you can just swap em between instead of having to rig up mags for each gun. Spare flashhiders are $10-40 each so figured just getting bolts that fit is much more economical (kinda the goal of this project, saving as much money as possible compared to buying a TM tracer unit or G&P illuminated mags that are only avaliable for armalites.) Once I get my digi cam cable I'm putting up tutorials on both. |

It's a fine thread. Been told by machinists at work 14mm is standard metric sparkplug threading, but if you look at spark pug threads, they are rather course, so keep that knowledge around in case someone tells you CT or Rona has 14mm taps or dies, it'll save you the trip.

the outer diameter is 14mm or 13.99 after some wear and tear
The tap or die would be LH (ccw) 14mm x 1.0 mm pitch etaps.com carries these taps at a good price. For the price of a flash hider you can get the taps and then resell them no problem. |

I'm more looking into getting some bolts that just simply fit. They have to exist somewhere. I am currently waiting on ottawa fasteners to call me back as they are checking into the M14x1.0 LH nuts, Rastall nuts and bolts in Sudbury didnt have them nor could they order them in as their supplier didnt list them.
I may just fork over the $30 for a -14mm to +14mm adapter assuming I can find M14x1.0 RH nuts (all I've found are M14x1.5), but I'd rather just find some nuts that work. |
