JTF2 weapons and configurations
Hey I was wondering what weapons are used by the JTF2 and how they are configured. I checked out the pictures at the link, I can see MP5-A5 and the C-8 and it looks like a SIG pistol. I am mostly interested in the scope/RDS used on the C-8. It appears to be over the forgrip instead of over the receiver. Anyone know what type of scope this is? I thought it might be an ACOG from the picture with the three guys. Then again I guess they have a bit of choice being SF so I could go with anything.

As far as the pistol since no one mentioned it is a SIG SAUR P228 I beleive. JTF2 has many different optical sights that i have seen in various pictures, but namely ofcourse the Elcan, Aimpoint and EOTech.
As for the C8 being a solid sight rails, since Colt took over, they are now producing the C8 with a removable sight rail just like the American M4. C8: http://www.diemaco.com/c8-page.htm C8-SFW: http://www.diemaco.com/sfw-page.htm Or my C8-SFW: http://www.pbase.com/chef40/image/57626391 - Jackals. |

Actually JTF2 does use the P226. I confirmed it with a buddy of mine who builds their sniper rifles (PGW DTI).

The C8 and C7 have always been made with flat-top recievers as an option, even when Diemaco was producing them.

Just checked in a book I have about the JTF2, says they use the SIG P-225, P-226, P-228, and P-229. Also says they have C7, C7 Flat-Top(FT), C8, C8FT. But it also says they use anything from AK-47 to HK G-3 to PSG-1. So you can use pretty much anything you want.

The orignal C7 an C8 rifles didn't have a flat top upper receiver, only the A1 an A2 versions do.

Yea, but those A1/A2s have been around for a long time (as long as I have been looking at Diemaco's site from like 8-9 years ago).

A1 came into service mid '90s I think, A2 is brand new. A lot of troops still used the old C8 in Afghanistan too.

yea i was just surfing the net, and decided to look around jtf2 stuff, and i found a report a guy saying they had got funds from the government to go spend, and they went and bought some p90's and also apprently some H&K grenade launchers, supposedly the new side loading one.
It wasn't really a review on what they bought, the guy was ranting about how JTF2 seems to be getting the necessary gear to fulfill their jobs and buying all these weapons and gear without having to wait, but when the regulare forces want new gear they have to wait several years before they even can even request to have the gear ordered. The guy does bring up a good arguement, but they are special forces, and they need this gear to fulfull missions that regular forces just don't do and have no need for the equipment that JTF2 uses. |
