Ghillie Suits for Airsoft

I run the site Ghillie Suits

I was wondering how many here use ghillie suits when playing airsoft. If so, what suit do you use? I would like to know what you use and why. I would appreciate any pictures of players in their suits!

Thank you
Justin

This is what I use, I actually have 2 right now, one I have used a BDU base, and the other is just a cover/veil that I use to just throw over. In the pics below I am using my woodland BDU jacket with the garnish attached.

that wouldn't happen to be a BF2 sniper pic you have there on the front page... because ghillie suits are all about tactics, and well... really BF2 is about the opposite of that.

I don't have any good pics of my suit but I made it myself. I haven't heard too many good things about the premanufactured suits out there. They usualy contain too many dark colours to be effective in my neck of the woods.

Hey Marcy, I can still see you. .

In these pics yes, but when playing in the field I tend to dissapear for the entire day

the last pic was during one of the games Atreyu had set a bounty on me and Crash (at which we were playing as a sniper team...go figure) the pic was taken just before Crash mercied the bounty hunter who was aproaching my position (he didnt know I was there) it was quite a priceless moment, as I had COUGHATREYUCOUGH in my sights, and to see his face when Crash mercied him, was PRICELESS..and Ill leave the story at that.

On a sidenote, I am awaiting for my materials to arrive as im going to be making a full body suit that only covers the back head to toe. I will post pics, but I dont know how often ill be playing this year in the warm months.

So far it's just a ghillie cape, to cover me up when im on the ground. I have plans to ghillie up a boonie hat to add to the peice... however it seems I have lost my boonie hat :???:

I didnt think it was going to be affective, until someone actually tripped over me on the field haha

my opinion. The best Ghillies are the Home Made ghillies.

Making your own ghillie accentuates its fonctionality as well as its effectiveness. I have sold many HomeMade ghillies (my design) and i know they are quite good, but i urge everyone to make their own instead of buying a pre-made one.

Of couse, that's the difference between someone who really believes in the way and who just wants to play once in a while.

Cheers,

Here are few pics of my personal suit i currently use. Those pics were made for lighting conditions adjustments.

edit: Hmmm Pbase.com are anal now... wierd. Can't link directly.

I tried making a ghillie suit, even fraying all the Burlap, my suggestion, for lot less time, and headaches, you best buy a premade one. I'm going to order one from Bushrag just because the rate it takes to tie string, fray etc I would be done in over a year...I can't wait that long.

in my case, around 15hours tops from material to final product. Add a 24hours period for drying and its ready to ship.

Its a matter of having enought stuff to watch on tv

You'll never get a commercial Ghilie that will be as good as a hand made one, unless of course you buy a hand made comercial Ghillie, which is going to cost minimum $500 USD. typically you'll need two suits one for summer/spring, and one for fall/winter.

HAHAHA. Here kitty kitty!!! I took the middle ground and bought a kit. So its home made/ but not customed since its a kit. Putting twigs and whaterver in it adds to any ghillie to! http://www.davesarmysurplus.com/popup_image.php?pID=347 that is essentaily what it look like but i got woodland instead of that mossy oak that is shown. I got the kit for $110 with tax and a bottle of class "A" fire retardant (good idea to get). They say estimated time to complete the kit is 6.24 hours at 8 knots per minute. So four strands for every knot to make it one of every colour, which is impossible in my oppinion. Took me a little less than a week working on it at 11pm after i got home from work and caught a bite.

Now THAT'S a ghillie suit! Great job. I don't have photos of mine and after looking at yours I'm going to add more to it.
I started with a 2-piece "Mossy Oak" suit from www.wingsupply.com for around $60. Then I went to the arts & crafts store & bought a fake wreath, fake foilage & fabric materials. Looks good & it's lightweight & breathable -don't even know you're wearing it after a few minutes. Lots of fun to make your own -I highly suggest it. Also get a rifle rag or equivelant -there's nothing natural about a black rifle sticking out of a "bush."
