Tactical Combat Vest Advice

I am thinking about getting the MilSpex Pheonix HSV Vest (OD). Does anybody have experience with these vests? Good? Bad? Decent?
Can you attach a camel pack to the back of the vest?

Basically I want a zippered/buckled vest in OD that will accommodate 3-4 M16 mags, camel pack, and other accessories....I also want to use the vest when I'm out shooting/hunting with all my real guns.

The vest is listed on Redwolf for $65 US.
Specarms has quoted me $129.95 CDN to order it through them.
OR
Should I just order it myself since it is just a vest and will probably make it through customs with no problems.

Anyone ever order through Redwolf for themselves?

My budget is around $80-150. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Vests you should not have a problem with getting through the border. I order all my BHI stuff from the states and it comes through no problem. Only thing is you might get taxes slapped on it by customs though.

I will also look at what the US has to offer then. Everything is so expensive in Canada :|

Well, the BHI vest that MilSpex copied is $134 US...making it at least $180CDN after shipping maybe $200 after customs.

The question now is, Whether the BHI is worth spending an extra $50-70 to get? OR....
Should I buy the MilSpex one and spend the money saved on a camel pack?

Well I think it is but the milSpex is ok for a now but you get what you pay for. There are some others that make that type of vest like Eagle and theres more just can't think of them yet.

Have you looked at Tactical Tailor's or the BHI STRIKE lineup? If you're on a budget their gear offers the best bang for the buck. I suggest saving up a little more cash and buying from them. If there are any workmanship-related failures they'll either fix it or replace it. You can't say the same for that Milspex stuff and God knows how long it'll last.

A vest is a vest. You should really consider the application before you spend money on the equipment.

Read Morbius' link and then go to Daves surplus in New West. It is the motherlode of tac gear. Spend some time trying stuff on and pick one that you like.

Milspex is an offshore knockoff. If you get a tactical tailor, eagle, etc, you will get ten times the quality for about the same price. It doesn't cost that much more -Daves has the tactical tailor ones for 200 canadian.

Even better, buy this one

I'm pretty sure it's the one I sold him a while back, it's a tactical tailor 1A vest in woodland for 80 bucks.

BHI stuff is garbage IMHO. It is basically entry level gear made cheaply. People swear by BHI, but that's because they haven't used any truly good kit like HSGI... Seriously, good kit is worth it. Cheap stuff is just that... cheap.

I have used Eagle, TT, HSGI, and found Blackhawk gear just as good.

There is absolutely no comparison between HSGI and BH. Seriously. I have no idea what would compel you to even say that... it's simply not true. Unless you're talking flashlight pouches or something ridiculous and pointless like that. But you can't seriously say that a BH rig is near the quality of a HSGI rig. TT maybe, but not HS.
