The hop up toggle controlls the hop up, the hop up itself forces a rubber membrane on to the breech just before the BB, this membrane puts a backspin on the BB when passing through allowing it to spin backwards as it is leaving the barrel of the gun, this action allows the BB to generate a type of lift which in turn makes the BB go straighter for longer without it droping down to the ground so fast.

PS. Welcome to the site.

Well eventually you get to the point where it starts to go up, just see where the BB is going and adjust from there, do a search, there are many topics on here about the hop up system.

You need to adjust the hopup for the best trajectory. Go to a game field, and test it.

Not enough and the BB fall down too fast. Too much and the BB fly upwards too fast. How much varies for each gun and BB weight.
