CADPAT hats...??
Okay, so the jackets and trousers are easy to get (not quite in my size...but I make due). What I want to know is what kind of CADPAT hats are worth the $$?
When I was at Dave's today there were two that stood out. -One was CADPAT through and through, with no foliage loops and a good dark color. -The other reminded me more of the issued hats, except the foliage loops were regular webbing and the interior was one-ply. Does anyone know what I'm talking about (or can provide your own reviews). I'm starting to work a basic CADPAT set so my officers will get off my back about foreign kit.

Quick response: Get a CADPAT boonie. I picked up mine for $10 (albeit it was 30% off) It is not a real one, and I believe it is the same as the one you described. (I will take a few pictures after i type this up) I personally like having the reversible cat eyes on the back of the boonie (they come on all the issued ones)

I think I saw that hat at Westley's today. I'll pick it up next time I go through New West...in a few weeks...

Warning though, Parkland products fade like there is no tomorrow. This can be cause by poor washing, sun exposure, or looking at it wrong.
For awhile there were reversible boonies available at Seals Action Gear that were very handy an' held their colour exeptionally well. https://sealsactiongear.com/catalog/...p?idCategory=4

All the repro cadpat you see is not the real material used in the CF made cadpat combats. They have the same cadpat patternbut they are not the genuine cadpat material.

Mike, although it may not be real...it is better then Parkland's material. That stuff is seriously lacking in some colour-last.

I have an OD bushcap that I wear when I go out with my cadets. Last year, the cat eyes it had started to get old and actually broke in half. So I decided to find some new ones. I looked in every fabric type of store you can imagine, and never found anything even remotely close to the glow in the dark properties of the actual cat eyes. All I ever found was reflective tape. The only place I could find the real deal, was in surplus stores, and it was all already sewn onto other bushcaps/boonies. In the end, I ended up purchasing a small package of glow in the dark stars that you stick to your ceiling. I trimmed pieces of them down to size, took a hot needle and poked holes around the edge. I then sewed them onto my bushcap. It looks rather awkward, since the plastic is so thick, but it does the job just fine. I am considering doing the same to my boonie.

Or you can go in to the surplus store and buy a bunch of cheap helmet bands...clean the cats eyes...take them off of the band and sew them on.
I myself use reflective tabs on my hats and helmets, but I plan on getting some cats eyes and replacing all the tabs.
