Ear Pro with Radio

Hey,

Got a question

I was using my ear pro at NF with me Baofeng GT-3mk3, plugged into it was the standard Baofeng hens set. On the hand set there is a 3.5mm Jack. I plugged from that into my ear pro but the problem is this. I wasn't able to use the hand set to talk, and when I hit the button it would Squeel.

Does anyone know of a better handset to work with the ear pro for this situation?

I had a shitty one off Amazon that didn't work with my Howard Leight Impact Sports, I am looking at grabbing a Code Red speakermic 21-K when I have the funds.

Robb, When your radio antenna gets too close to the ear pro they squelch. Try moving your radio somewhere else and see if that eliminates the issue. You could always look into moving your antenna with an extension cable or a stubby 1/4 wave antenna.
I have the same issue from time to time myself and when I tested what was causing it, it was the antenna proximity to the ear pro themselves

That's crazy. Yeah I can move the radio I guess. Defeats the purpose though. Need to figure a solution

What earpro were you using?

I have my antenna relocated to the top of my shoulder (aka, right beside my earpro/headset) and have never had an issue like this.

It could be an impedance issue, or an issue with the handsets wiring not being standard, as china companies like to make up their own standards by brand.

Howard Leight ear pro is what he is running. His radio is a Baofeng (not sure of the model though). I have a UV-5R and get that squelch sound when the antenna is close to the ear pro and I am transmitting. I use a baofeng shoulder mic with my setup.

Robb?

I run the howard leight ear pro and tried everything. 1, 2, 3, 4 conductor plugs from the headset to the shoulder mic and nothing worked on my baofeng and generic shoulder mics. It does work on my Retevis mini shoulder mic though so its most likely just picky with certain shoulder mics.

Prob because you are not running a shitty leaky radio, with a shitty shielding on the cable... bofangs have like negative filtering, they leak RF everywhere

I run the Howards Leight impact sports with a Impact comms GRSM-HD1 speaker mic. The speaker mic has a kenwood type pin which plugs directly into my Baofeng UV-R5 with no problems on either the mic or audio ports. From there i plug my impact comms into a 3.5 mm port on the speaker mic with a standard 3.5 mm 2 pole cord. Ran this setup few a few games now and it works just fine for me.

I am only getting audio out of one side speaker on the Howards, though it it caused by the cheapo 3.5 mm cord i am currently using.

I basically made a cable. I took a 3.5mm TRS and soldered a Mono 3.5mm on the other end to plug into the talk piece. Putting the tip and ring together for the positive pin on the mono plug.
