PPM and DBT questions

It's time for a new rig!

Looking for experiences about Patriot Performance Materials (PPM) gear, specifically their munitions pouches and the Chest System series, both assaulter and patroller.

Also looking for opinions on DBT Battlelabs Tiered double mag pouch, specifically if running them open-top rather than closed-lid will have any problems, especially when huffing it through the bush.

The end objective is a lightweight, open-topped rig for 8x M4, 2-3x G17, 1x Saber, and a mix of munitions (hence the modularity). Preferably no bib, and must be open-backed (X or H strap system).

Alternatives are always welcome.

I've got the PPM CSPM or whatever it's called. (the split front one) Best chest rig base you can get for that price. Even better than a MAV. You can use a TT X-harness with it, with a little bit of modification. The H-harness on it gets a bit uncomfortable when the rig is loaded quite heavily.

I have an OD one in stock if you want to try it on and compare.

The DBT two tier pouch has individual elastic retention for each mag. The mags are secure even with the top open, going through bush should not be a problem.

odp: How do you find the extra row of PALS? Does it ride higher (i.e. from belt buckle to upper sternum) and feel more cocoon-ish? What about the material and construction quality? Bartacking and triple-stitch? Soft or stiff material?

Farmboy: I've run the BHI CCH before, similar to the TAG rig you linked. Wasn't liking the fat titty-like feel of three stacked mags. Might hit you up for the TAG munitions pouches though.

sparhawk: Exactly what I wanted to hear. $18.95 x 5 well spent.

Material and construction quality is great. Just as good as my TT MAV and HSGI Weesatch.

Maybe it does ride higher, but I wear it fairly low anyways.

The extra row of PALS I find useful for paracord-ing stuff to. Also gives you the option of running 2 small utility pouches mounted vertically.

Other nice things:
ID/badge holder on the rear side of the front
Line of velcro above top row of PALS for name tapes and patches
