Does it lock back with a mag filled with gas and no BB's, when dry firing? (perhaps it's just low on gas) Is this outside, inside? (what's the temperature)

Isn't that one of the first things to break on the hi-capas anyways?
Assume you were running propane? |

Hicapas can run for years or forever on propane and stock slide catches.
Nevermind that the new Gold Match design has a metal on metal catch. |

The little screw holding a metal piece for reinforced slide stop, tie it up or add small amount of glue to hold it in place. That could be loose and miss the catch.
Further more, after awhile you may find the slide loose a bit too. It is because this metal piece is starting to wear and off track. That also effect the trigger pull not function properly. I applied thin layer of blue glue to increase the thickness and fill the gap, now it works great. But how long can it last? Duno yet. For sure one thing, this gold match has tie grouping out of the box! Love it and good for my Action-Air practical shooting. Check #2-5 for more info. http://airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=173924

If you've found the problems I mentioned, then you do it. Thin layer. If you have no problems, don't do it. Remove the metal and apply thin layer glue on the wall between slide to increase the thickness of the wall for better tracking. I'll post my slide done later tonight

Can you see that thin layer of gasket maker shows between the reinforced slide stop metal piece and the plastic slide, that's the way to increase the thickness to fill the space between the track of the mid frame and slide.
