KWA M93r, barrel worn out
Hey, I was wondering if anyone here has had any luck macgyvering a way to build up a plastic outer barrel (specifically the KWA m93r one). The back part (the part that hits the slide) is really worn out and I don't have $60 to buy another barrel for it. Any ideas?
(oh, and the gun will not shoot right because of the worn out barrel...so...yeah) |

I have the exact same problem. Dont know why they used plastic there in the first place. Does wnyone know of an aluminum replacement outer barrel?

After trying (and failing) to repair the chipped part at the back of my barrel, I bought a replacement directly from KWA. You'll need to email them about it but they're perfectly happy to ship to Canada.
As for why they made the barrel plastic in the first place, I imagine it's because the point of impact between the slide and barrel also happens to stress the thinnest parts of the slide, where the side rails meet the rear section. At the point of impact, either the slide or the barrel has got to wear out and eventually crack, KWA must've chosen the barrel to be the wear component. For this reason, I wouldn't recommend the RA Tech steel outer barrel for the M93R, under normal use it'll likely deform and crack the aluminum slide.

alright, thanks for your input, I have one more thing to try, if that doesn't work then I'm just buying a new one.

Ok, so far so good, I'll test the durability tomorrow. If it works then I'll post a solution.

Short term: It worked!!!
What I did: I covered the warn out part with LoVOC ABS cement (standard) and unlike the other fixes I've tried it's lasted 2 long mags with little signs of wear (only because I made the fix too wide...) I'll put a full fix in the doctors fixes after some long term testing. |
