They still make em, but no one really wants to drop $2000 + on an AEG.

WGC has them for US$1025.00, so your looking at pretty close to $2000 if not more by the time you can buy them here.

I'd rather buy 4 TM AEGs for that.

The Systema gun's I was fuckin around with cost like $1300 IIRC. For $2000 I'd buy a real gun or 3. :lol:

I was looking at all the things i wanted to get on a AR15 system... Marui + systemA body + mechbox + stock.... and it comes close to 2000$ anyways...

There's a new generation of Systema PTW systems out (I believe there was even a video posted here a little while ago about the new ones)

Apparently they're extremely nice, but are currently only for release to military/law enforcement for training.

Construction is supposed to be fantastic, part quality the same.

Magazines are designed to electrically cut off the supply of power to the mechbox when the magazine is empty, simulating the need to reload (and the true function of a gun).

Swapping to change spring power is also apparently ridiculously easy, since the piston/spring/cylinder sets come pre-built, and to change from say 450 fps, to 320fps would merely require you field stripping the gun partially (as per a real armalite), pulling the cocking rod, sliding the one piston/cylinder set out, and sliding the other, lower powered one in.

AFAIK, the parts are [almost?] all compatible with actual armalite parts too (barring the body/internals) so any external mods can use real parts.

This is all what I gleaned from reading, and from the video.

on the ICS, the whole upper mechbox comes out, whereas the Systema PTW's, just the cylinder comes out, and it much more compact then carrying an extra upper mechbox around with you. Imagine being able to carry all 3 cylinders on you, and being able to change the range of your gun in seconds, even during a fire fight. why buy 3-4 TM's when you can buy 1 PTW and have 3 guns in one? And an extremely sweet one at that.

Also, the trigger mechanism is like that of the PSG-1, so it fires the instant you pull the trigger, unlike most AEGs that take time to wind up the motor.

i got a gen 1 version and although awesome, some have had trouble with the switch shorting out.. so far no problems here and awesome fit and finish and tough as nails.

That is not true at all. The piston is still pulled back when you pull the trigger.

Due to the planetary gear system it may seem to take less time but it still has to wind up persay.

I must say its a very elegant gun it how it feels and how the mechanics of its internals work. But in the end it still an AEG. When I want the best performing AEG I have ever owned I never would reach for the PTW. The first choice would be my M14 Hands down. It also has a very intricant and well performing mechanism. Beautiful trigger pull, outstanding accuracy, The thing seems to hum like a Finely Crafted watch.

Maybe if the upgrade kits for the PTW are not too expensive ( I got word they are due out anyday) I will get the kit to take my Gen1 to a Gen 3.

Then maybe just maybe I will start to use the PTW again. heh

The problem with switching out the cylinder assembly is that you have to retune the hopup. Every change you make involves opening the gun up, so it's a pretty intensive process.
