gun camera

sorry if i posted in the wrong section but this is airsoft related. i am thinking of making a gun/head cam to record games just currious if somthing like this might work http://cgi.ebay.ca/WIRELESS-HIDDEN-M...QQcmdZViewItem it says 1000 ft line of sight range but how would that work in a cqb environment. if this one wont work what kind of equipment could you use

Ok, much simpler route here. Purchase a portable personal video recorder like this: http://www.mustek.com/html/prod_pmc/PVR-A1.html

Then for the input to it, you just require a small video camera, like these: http://www.uspystore.com/category.ph...subcategory=21 .

After that start recording, Very lightweight and portable.

It's all up to you for mounting options, but hey, its damn easy to attach a camera to your gun/gear/ect.

Hope that helps, BTW Phrozen, Care shedding some light on this topic? I know ya have one of them PVR's.

But yes, That there on ebay would work, but you'd be limited to range & having to have electricity & other electronics to record onto.

LOL, kinda funny.

Pyle a buddy of mine used that exact system in his R/C Submarine to view through a minature periscope. For his application it's great, but I think you'll be dissapointed with the image quality... kinda sux.

I used to have that Mustek PVR A1 and a minicam.... except I sold it to Pokey, lol. It was a hell of a fun piece to have. Just use the AV cables included with the PVR, jam the camera on one end, turn it on, and you can get a live view or record the game as you play. The portable PVR runs close to 200$ and the camera about $35 - $45.00. I was thinking of building a custom RAS mounted housing for it but it never came to be as an oppurtunity to trade it for something came up.

What about this one from Tigerdirect Canada. If you have another SD card laying around it might work.

Digital Blue Tony Hawk Helmet Cam

Yeah, that doesn't seem too bad. You could get that and pop in a 1-gig memory card or something...

Hmm not bad, Probaly has shitty video quality tho. Cant say I have ever head of "Digital Blue".

I'd much preferably get that Mustek PVR for its quality & the freedom to pair it with all sorts of camera's.

Tho on a plus side, I could just mount that camera (Tony Hawk Helmet Cam) directly to my gun. Pop in a 2gb SD card & leave it recording. Group order anyone? j/k

More or less can anyone speak for the video quality of that Tony Hawk camera?

EDIT: Never mind, its 320x240, Bleh thats CRAP. I'd rather duct tape my DV cam to my foregrip lol.

sorry lets try this again. the pvr that bc_k has the link for http://www.mustek.com/html/prod_pmc/PVR-A1.html says it has a 35 megabite internal memory. how long will that record for with out an aditionial card. also it has a screen on it, if i got an infrared camera can you view an immage through the screen. so in a way it would kind of be like having night vision.

That'd probably only record for a few minutes, probably much less then 10 (At most).

Also, it'd kill your eyes, unless it was a scope or something, or handheld for the quick glance when you're unsure about something.. I believe Unconventional Airsoft has a way into converting a cheap camera into a pretty good night-vision sight, though, you may want to check that out.

All it needs is a frame, really. It's perfect, despite being very shoddy...
