STAR MP5 mags Good or Bad buy...

Backround Info...
I've been looking into purchasing some Star MP5 30Round Magazines. So I called up Kuramae because I find their prices reasonable and I don't have to deal with a lot of shipping annoyences. They told me that I could buy a Box of 10 for $100 CND no tax no addons...However I think I only need like 5 mags...but I feel compelled to buy 10...Since Kuramae does have it and I've gotten tired of waiting for 007Airsoft and also 007 wanted 100 plus shipping where as kuramae wanted 100 and no taxes or whatever...I'm going to place a deposit for them this friday. My origional plan was to get them from Airsplat USA but it seemed risky plus it would cost like 20 dollars less but it seems risky.

Questions
I just wanted to ask if this was a good or bad purchase for my first magazine set?

Are they durable?

Yeah, they're fairly durable. From my experience with the M4 mags, they take a bit of punishment, and are pretty good quality.
However, they are a bit light, so you may not know you have them if you shoved them in your pocket, it takes away a bit of realism. Just crack open the bottom and put some weights in it (I used glued-together pennies). At least, the M4 has some hollow bit. Not sure on MP5, though.

Hey! glued together pennies- that's perfect. Thanks for the good idea Bob!

$100 flat is a good decent price. I payed $101 for my Ak set, and you won't find 'em for any less (unless you want to risk seizure). I was in the same situation, only needing 5 mags, so I ordered all 10 and sold 5; easy as pie. You won't regret the purchase!

The only "mags" that can risk a seizure are airsoft box mags, and transparent/translucent magazines... And only because of idiot/ignorant customs officials. There's no law whatsoever preventing the import of them.

However, on a small order, the shipping kills!

Well Airsplat quoted like 70.25 USD but I didn't feel like risking it and anyways I want to support the Canadian airsoft community. However airsplat does have good service. I'll put a depost this friday and thanks for the pennies tip.

(Since the previous edition offended some people, have you thought of checking the Accessories Section?)

May be a stupid question... but I'm lazy right now... I just rode my motorcycle home in the rain so I'm VERY wet and VERY cold

Kuramae... that's the one in Pacific mall?
I'd be looking to do the same thing... I need some MP5 mags and am thinking I'll buy a box of 10 when I'm home for christmas.

yea Kuramae is at Pacific Mall I think since you're in BC you should arrange to put a deposit down to kuramae a month in advance so they can order it in OR order from Jugglez he PMed me and he does group orders and you can order products from UN COMPANY through him. I think yours (10 Pk star mp5 low cap) would cost around 110 from Jugglez because he has to ship to BC. 90 for mags and i guess the 20 or so for shipping I'm not sure but give him a PM.

BTW greylocks I'm sorry if i offended you by placing this in the wrong section.

if you want more capacity than 30 rds. check out the MAG bran mp5 mags from wgc. you get 8-100rd. mags for the same price as 10-30rd star mags. and tru could probably get them for you on his next order. just a thought. i have 40 star mags mixed up between my m4, ak, and mp5 and all work great. haven't had to throw one out yet.

MAG brand eh. I don't know I want to keep it as realistic as possiable and also I don't want to go into the field going nuts on full auto and never reloading. Don't get me wrong thats fun but it emptys your wallet pretty fast too. Anyways thanks for all the info guys.

Why would someone from BC want to order from an obscure store in Markham? There are far better (and trusted) retailers in the list.

I found that odd too but ya know different strokes for different fokes...whatever that means but i think Tru can bring em in Jugglez does group orders, 007 never has them when you need them...i guess he wanted to order from Kuramae because he can actully walk into the store and pick it up

just a little tip on ordering from the states, you not only have to pay the shipping and us-cdn$ exchange but you also get a duty charge which is like a tax grab kinda thing that makes it as if you were buying them in canada.
