Positive(+) and Negative(-) Silencer Threads

Hey, I tried search for this info, but all I keep getting was either useless crap that did not help me what so ever, or nothing at all, so I figured that I would finally make a post about this. My question is how do you recgonize what is a positive thread and what is a negative thread. By thread i mean like the 14mm threads on some silencers, etc. The only idea that i could come up on my own was that a positive thread would be a piece that screwed into something in a clock wise motin, and that a negative thread would be one that had a piece screw-in in a counter-clock wise motin. This is just my own educated guess, and I would really appreciate it if someone would explain how to tell if something is either a positive of negative thread, and if my guess was either right or wrong.

Thanks, and please don't flame me because I just spent that last 45 minutes searching this topic to try to find an answer, but had no luck.

you are absolutely right, though, in retrospect, this information can be intuitively discovered by drawing comparisons with like silencers listed under different terms on different websites (well... due to my inability to resist the opportunity for self-indulgance... that's how I found it out anyways ... but your method works equally well!)

most if not all are 14mm negative (CCW)
I have searched far and wide and have not found anything to match.
