Propper Multicam BDU Fit

So I just received a pair of Propper BDU Trousers in Multicam from Cabalea's which I had to special order.

These pants are enormous! I ordered Medium Regular which, based on the size chart on the Propper website should have been fine but they are way off from fitting at all.

The waist is probably about 4-5" too big which I could remedy by getting a smaller size but the legs and seat are insanely baggy. Are they supposed to be baggy?

Are there any brands of BDU that are more appropriately fitted?

BDUs/ ACUs kind of fit like pajamas. This is a good thing, as it allows for increased dynamic range of movement. The seats seem to have a ton of room, because they are athletic work-wear and thereby meant to be worn high (belt line on/ on top of your hips, not hanging around your pelvis like civilian pants or most trendy jeans). Hike those fuckers up to Grampa levels or they'll get in the way.

Sizing for these things can be a bit tough depending on your body type. Most companies have a 'Fits XX"-XX"' sizing chart. You'll want to take an *actual* measurement of yourself, at the right height. Then, if you're a naturally slim person, pick the size which matches your measurements at the *top* end of it's range, where if you're a more naturally well - portioned person, pick the size with your actual measurements at the bottom or middle of it's range.

If it really still seems like you're swimming in these things, (like, you could put both legs in one pant leg), then it's time to hit the gym for some squats, leg presses, and steak dinners. Ride your bike to work for a year or two.

Alternatively, if you're handy with a sewing machine, you can pull and resize the outside seams pretty easily without deforming the pants, you'll just end up losing real estate in your butt pockets.

proper bdu pants have draw straps on the side to tighten the pants at the sides... you're supposed to wear a belt on top of that.

proper acu cut pants have a draw string you tie at the front... again, you're supposed to wear a belt on top to make sure they stay where they are.

And yes, they are supposed to be baggy so they don't bind or constrict/restrict movement.

Thanks for the input. I'm a smaller guy, 5'9, 160 lbs but I'm not twiggy. I think perhaps the next size down might be better overall.
