Shooters Design/Maruzen PPK/S Build & Review

There had been more interest in my P226 build than I had anticipated so I thought I would post my results of my "hommage to bond".



While the photos are old and posted in various other threads throughout ASC, I though I would follow the format I began with the P226 build and consolidate my thoughts, opinions and photos into one concise post.



Maruzen has release a new batch of Walthers a little while ago and Shooters Design full metal kits as well as spare parts are still available (at the time of posting this), so this is a gun that you can build and own yourself given you can source the parts in Canada.



The Shooters Design kit is flawless in fit and finish and has a slide to frame lockup with absolutely zero movement, despite this it is butter smooth to operate. The pins that fit into the frame are tight to get in and can be marred or damaged easily. While I would not advise building yourself unless you are mechanically inclined, it did not require any special fitting to work and assembled without too much trouble.



It is necessary that you get the Shooters Design 150% recoil spring because without it the whole experience is spoiled by a pitifully slow slide return. The slide still locks back every time it is empty, but I cap it at seven shots as per the real steel.



I thought that a gun this nice deserved a better home than a cardboard box so I built an accompanying wooden case to display it in, after being inspired by seeing a fan built, 1/1 scale prop of the box given to bond in Dr. NO

For my box I used felt instead of flocking and the leftover stain and polyurethane from my AK foregrip, though not exact to the film I believe the spirit is there. It is not finished in the photo and needs a sand/polish and a top coat of poly.



While it is no game day gun, it is a nice piece of movie memorabilia and firearms history rolled into one small, neat, package that doesn't ruin the lines of your bespoke suit.

Frog Lube paste to make everything work super smooth

FPS is not consistent and very low, sub 200fps I think this is due to the gas system and the fit of the magazine into the frame.

I was going to settle for a cheap ACM china made pot-metal PPK/s, so it was a pleasant surprise that I found the SD one you were selling and at a phenomenal price!

I was so close to selling it because I couldn't find parts, then at the last minute I found a graveyard gun that had the parts I needed.

ARC you are welcome to come over for a beer and shoot it whenever!
