What type of gearbox is in the JG FAL/Echo1 SOF?

Hi all,

I picked up a nice body kit for a JG FAL that's missing the gearbox. I haven't seen any full shots of the gearbox anywhere, and was just wondering if someone could confirm the specifics about it.

I know it's a V3 and it looks like the G36 V3 with the longer nozzle and cylinder head outlet, but is the motor cage the same as the G36 or a more conventional AK V3?

Also, I do know that the selector plate is different, but if someone could please confirm anything else that I didn't mention, it would be a big help.

Thanks for your time and please let me know if you can.

I haven't taken mone apart yet.

It's a ak motor cage for sure. The hop up is apparently a sig hop, so if that's true then it's whatever sig v3 nozzle.

V3 mechbox, AK motor cage, Sig nozzle but if you want to use a Lonex one you have to sand down the outside for it to fit in the hopup unit. The mechbox shell's cylinder head pins are huge, Lonex will not fit. SHS was closer but still had to be drilled out a bit. As far as I remember that was it for issues.

Most recent JG guns I worked on had that issue...

It's not really that the pin is larger, it's just further forward...

I've been trying to figure out what you're talking about with "mechbox shell's cylinder head pins", could you please explain what that is exactly? I'm very familiar with v3 gearboxes, but I might be calling whatever part it is something different.

in the side of the cylinder head there are 2 holes, there are 2 corresponding pins in the gearbox shell that lock into these holes so the cylinderhead doesn't shoot out of the cylinder from compression.

Ah, thank you. I figured that's what they were, but wasn't sure.

Thanks for clearing it up
