Hephaestus forend on LCT AKMSU?

I'm contemplating what is likely considered a heretical change to my LCT AKMSU - at least for one OP.

Hephaestus New Charging System w/ Forend for GHK AKS-74UN/AKMSU Series

http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/hephaestu...l#.U7gc6JRdVmM

I have not found any evidence online that it'll work with the LCT, but on the other hand, i also haven't found any evidence that it won't.

It's my understanding, that the GHK AKMSU is based upon the LCT AKMSU externals, but with GHK's proprietary GBBR system for internals - correct?

Can anyone come up with any reasons why it shouldn't work, even given judicious use of a dremel if necessary.. personal taste preferences not withstanding.

Thanks,

Yes, i knew of the lack of charging system/spring assembly going forward from the GHK's bolt assembly going through the 'gas tube'. The battery slides in through/close to that space, in it's place. As such, the charging handle will be purely cosmetic, and will need to be fixed in place, or McGyvered in such a way that it has own small spring retrofitted and bulk-headed in such a way that it doesn't interfere with the battery, in order to provide resistance and minimal travel.

I am more concerned with the fit in place of the original wood furniture.. I don't mind modding the Hephaestus forend to work with this LCT AEG.. not so much the gun itself, so that the wood kit wouldn't work after the fact.

I'll order this evening - and report the final results, once all is said and done.

Thanks for the input, to you both.

Well, it worked, with a bit of filing and finessing. I was able to solve the cocking handle issue by putting in a shortened AEG spring to hold the charging handle in position with resistance, and plugging up the base of the top RIS to hold it in position.

I'm happy with it, overall.
