its a barrel with a reduced diameter which enables you to get better groupings with your shots. most common are 6.04 but 6.03 exists. it will also slightly increase your FPS.

worth every penny
range, fps and accuracy increased.
myself, I soak the inside of my tightbore with silicone lube and shoot a low-cap through it, literally 2x the benifits of the tightbore.

Stock TM inner barrels are generally 6.08mm inside diameter. Thought that might help clear the mud a bit. You get a slight fps increase because there is more air pushing on the BB (as in less air escapes past the BB inside the barrel). BBs aren't a perfect 6.00mm either, they generally 5.96mm or so (go check out Illusion's sell thread, some of the BBs he sells he actually measures the actual diameter very accurately). So if a 5.96mm BB is travelling down the 6.08mm stock barrel, that gives a gap about 0.12mm (not awake yet so if my math is off.............) on one side, as BBs doesn't travel down the middle of the barrel, probably roll along the bottom, where a 6.03mm barrel will have a gap of 0.07mm. Less air leaking past the BB means more air pushing it. And reduced movement of the BB in the barrel, such as bouncing or whatever they do in there. Leave it to others to explain THAT one!

yah, I find BBs to be crappy all around
took a few bags of major brands, measured their diameters and weights, more close to advertised then the Canadian Tire BBs, but no where near consistant.

You can measure 0.01mm with an electronic caliper. (I think that is the tool.)

Also, a tiny miligram scale (or those commonly used for measuring the weight of narcotics  ) can be used to weigh a bb.

To measure bb's I use a vernier caliper or a metric micrometer.

What size do you guys find work best? 6.04 or 6.03? if tighter is better (as is usually the case in life ) why don't ppl just always go for the .03

Some people have said they run into issues with jamming from a .03 barrel.

I run a 6.03mm Prometheus (stainless steel) barrel in my M24 and it never jams, although it's different than an AEG. Good ammo plus a Guarder 50% (clear) Hop Up Sleeve & Bucking should make jamming a non-issue.

What I have heard about tightbores is that they make the hop up adjustment pretty twitchy, in that the sweet spot is that much harder to find and keep. Otherwise.................
