What's the basic stuff I'm missing for gameplay?

Hey everyone, first time poster and new to the game and wanted to ask some questions

I haven't played a game yet but I wanted to be prepared and have the right equipment for starters. At the moment I have:

- AK 47 with high cap magazine
- goggles and mouth mesh guard that covers half the face
- sling
- tactical vest (is this necessary for starters you think?)
- 1 extra magazine

Is there anything else you think I should get while I'm at it or is this enough? I don't have any uniform or anything at the moment but I'm going with an olive? setup and I have olive shirt and pants, is that okay for the mean time? Also, would you recommend a helmet?

Boots; good boots that have ankle support. No need for army boots, light hikers work very well.

Mags; lots of mags. All low-cap.

I have work steel toe 8inch boots with a soft insole inside, you think this will be fine? I don't find them bulky at all which is good and I don't want to spend extra money on boots if I don't have to.

hmm I was thinking of getting more mid-caps, should probably get 2-3 more for now?

Hydration !!

Get a molle chest rig so you configure it anyway you like and be able can grow with it.

There are great $50 helmets out there, if you budget allows, get it. Heads shots can give you a bad headache.

You'll find steel toed boots to be heavy to walk in all day. I wore my work boots for the first year or so, then got a pair of lighter combat boots. made a huge difference.

I'd wear the work boots if you have nothing else for ankle support. Skate/running shoes are useless.

Steel toes also do not breath. Walking around in a soup for a day, is not fun.

I have hikers. They are comfortable and I can run faster in them.

If you only have one extra mag, I will just tug that in a pockets and leave the vest. If you have multiple mags, you may also want to get a dump pouch for the empty mags.

He likely has the one hicap that came with his gun, and one other.

OP, research the different types of mags in Airsoft and decide what you prefer, then you'll know if you want to get a vest to carry them when u start out.

The gear section here has tons of good deals, I'm just getting back into the sport myself and I've found a lot of good (used) items, great prices too!

Minimum that you need is really just the gun, ammo, battery, charger, eye protection, decent footwear and a hi-cap mag.

A basic load-out of gear would include the above as well as camo (either basic OD or tan, or fancier digital patterns like CADPAT OR MARPAT), a vest or chest rig (+ pouches if it's a molle rig), a sling and a carry case for your rifle, some sort of wearable hydration system (camelbak or just a basic belt canteen) and replace the hi-cap mag with a load of real/low/mid-cap mags.

A full load-out would include the above as well as shooting gloves, knee-pads (possibly elbow-pads as well), duty belt, drop pouch, a spare battery, and a decent ruck to carry it all to and from the game.

A full load out plus would include the above as well as a radio + pouch, and a sidearm + holster + gas adapter. Eventually a cqb/backup/loaner weapon as well, with batteries and mags to go with it, and maybe a few grenades.

At some point you're probably going to want to add some sort of optics to your rifle as well. For that I recommend a decent red dot sight, and use a carry handle rail for ease of use.

For a basic loadout, I would start with this:

1. ANSI 87.1 or better eye protection

2. Some sort of basic face protection

3. Proper footwear (hiking shoes, combat boots, nothing too heavy)

4. Something to hold extra magazines or water or other random things (for example, something like this if you're running an AK: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Original-Chin...489f625&_uhb=1)

5. Gloves (Mechanix makes fantastic gloves, I own Mechanix Originals and the MPact2 gloves. You can find them at Canadian Tire)

6. Something to contain water. If you buy a Chicom rig, you can fit some water bottles into the pouches.

7. Lastly, a set of BDUs. Start with the simple stuff. Obvious green patterns like Olive Drab, Ranger Green, CADPAT, Tiger Stripe are good to start off with. For tans, Tan, 3 Color Desert, Arid CADPAT and Multicam are good. Check your local army surplus store.
