Bolt action issue.

Hey guys,

Well, i just got my rifle today. I got it, fired a good 20 rounds outa her and then suddenly it doesnt work anymore...

When i pull the bolt back, it doesnt catch on anything like it did before. I know there must be a part that holds the spring compressed.

Has anything like this happened to any of you bolt guys out there?

The gun is a VSR GSPEC...not that it would matter i think...

Thanks!

Sounds like the sears aren't catching the bolt.. does it have an upgraded spring? if so.. whoever you got it from should have had some upgraded sears as well. you can try taking out the bolt assemly and checking out the sears if they're overly worn.

Unscrew the two hex screws that hold the body together, take out the barrel and trigger assembly (they should be attached) push the retainer pin down (should be in the trigger assembly then uncock and slide the piston assembly thing out and check out the sears inside where the cylinder use to be.

I have the same rifle, might just be a trigger creep, or trigger release adjust ment, if one or both is too fine and there is a little wear, it wont hook up.

hope this may help.

This gun has been used. It had a Laylax 150% spring in it. Theoretical Fps is 492. I think its time has come. Just a part that will wear out from the toughness of the spring...

More to come tomorrow

Yeah 150's a bit much, I got mine with a 150 which chrono'ed at around 480 with .2's, downgraded it to a 130 and it shoots at a comfy level at 430 fps w/.2's.. the 150 was a bit tough to pull back when you dont have the gun shouldered properly. I've got the daiki sears and they seem to be holding up pretty good. put over a thousand rounds on it and it still works like a charm.

Hmm, well it turns out that the sear has zero damage (or wear for that matter). It just has more grease on it than the greased-up deaf guy...

Its holding great now!

Do you have trouble pushing your bolt forwards on your VSR??? I have a 200% spring with a new piston and sears.

Funny, my 200% spring only gets me 440FPS with .25. My piston must not be sealing properly

The problem was the cyclinder removal part (from the barrel).

Make sure your teflon rings inside the receiver assembly is seated right or pushing the cylinder back in could be a real treat. a little grease wouldnt hurt either. make sure your cylinder is cleaned off once in a while and it should be fine.

The strength of your spring should have little to no effect on how hard it is to push the bolt in..
