Type97 Mag issue

Might not be the right section but have to ask,

Bought my Type97 BNIB a few months and have switched from my Type56 as my main to this. I bought a box of King Arms Mid caps for it but I realized that the Gun does not hold the mags in and actually they drop out sometimes!

My question is, Any other Type97 Owners experience this with King Arms mags? Is it the mags? The Rifle? What Mags are you currently using?

Ive tried some other Mags (cant remember the brand) but they dont fall out.

same

Mine's the same, all mags are pretty loose if you pull hard enough mag just drop out. I will try to tighten the mag release parts next week to see if that helps, if anyone know the solution let me know

I use King Arms Metal mags in my 97. have tried many other types some work some don't don't like RS mags... Build quality on the M4 Mag from RS sucks. KA metal 120 RND mags work great in the 97

Lonex Pull string type mags 300 RND work great too.

fit is nice and tight

if you wanted to tighten up the magwell you could put a small piece of fuzzy side velcro in the mag well at the back of the well. then when you put a mag in it is pushed forward so it feeds...

I just had someone come in to test mags in my shop... PTS Emags fit very snugly (though you have to make sure they click in) and feed great.

I vote for Pmags, they fit like a glove on all rifles

I own both of the Type 97 and are using the MAG 170 mid caps. At first they dent fit well so I took a flat head screw driver to the side of the mag were the cut out is for locking it in place. Just bent the top part of the cut out, out wards a bit and now they work great. The only other mags i use for them are real sword mags.

Cyma 190 round midcaps fit and feed in my Type 97B. JG Hi-Caps fit very loosely and misfeed often. Lancer Tactical flash mags fit tightly but misfeed.

Thanks for the feedback folks.

The KA Midcaps I bought were the plastic mags.

@T-Hell The Metal KA Mags will fit better? Did you do any mods to it other than the felt you advised?

@Spike Does it feel like your Jamming it in or is it more of a hard smack in?

I May try the PMags as reccomended as I have a teammate who uses PMAGs. I`ll get back on that.

Thanks again for everyones Input. I`ll try what you all suggested.
