Aeg sks

I'm making one.
I've drawn up the CAD based on the Norinco SKS I owned, and using some schematics I have from when I was in gunsmithing.
I intend to use machinable plastics, to start with, molded from rapid prototyped parts. If these work, I'll eventually provide machined aluminum parts as optional upgrades, but so far I'm just focusing on getting the action right.
I'm shopping around now for an AK-47 for the internals to mate to the prototyped parts and, if this works, I (and therefore the customer) will save a tonne of coin by selling these with real SKS wood. I suppose it's possible that aftermarket SKS stocks might work too, but I really don't care. I'm interested in machining as accurate as possible a rugged and reliable airsoft SKS at the lowest prices possible.
I won't have a price guess until I start making the prototype, and at the moment it's all just man hours in 3DS Max and other 3D softwares.

May I have your input?
Please ask questions and make suggestions to help me improve this. Eventually I'll want testing volunteers as well.

Thanks in advance, everyone.

Looks good so far. Id suggest grabbin a kraken ak for internals seein as they are cheap and you could probably use alot of the hardwear from ome as well.

Next cpl of weeks ill be seein my buddy to get back the rest of my guns. I think one of em is a kraken i can sacrifice for the greater good lol.

Edit. I do have one question tho, ammo delivery? How you thinkin on doin that? Maybe have vsr10 magazines you can rack the bolt back and shove em in the top like the stripper clips.
Or i guess open the mag floor/trap door thing and shove em in like that.
Lil less realism like that tho

an AK gearbox won't fit in this... You'll likely be after something along a V7 akin to an m14.

What he said.

As for magazine, you could simply place some feeding lips like on a GBB. Rack and lock the bolt and fill from the top.

Then again, a GBBR SKS would be just awesome... and not that harder to do than what you are planning...

Thank you for the link and advice. I'll surely refer to the build topic for reference on mine. For the proof-of-concept model I planned to cut down one of those cheep plastic bottom winding M16 magazines to fit inside the magazine housing of the SKS. One would pop the release, pour bbs into the top of the M16 magazine, close the mag housing, wind the wheel, and go to town.
I'm not much of a pneumatics person, but electricals I understand a bit better, so at least my first versions will be AEG.
And, yes, in hindsight I think I'd want more an M14 action, though at the moment I see myself at least starting with an AK, simply because of the costs.

For something that so common, Im surprised that none of the major brand names have come up with one of there own?

Thats because its not an M4, and you can't easily drown it in magpul shit.

True, though enough aftermarket stocks, etc exist for the real SKS to warrant producing something that'd fit them.
Heck, I've always liked SKS variants, including bullpup stocks, folding stocks with picatinny, dragunov stocks, etc, etc, ad nauseum.
While my primary goal didn't take addons into consideration, the fact that it'll be accurate enough to the real thing to fit real addons will not hurt by any means.

M14 SOCOM is 200$...
Kinda hard to get cheaper.

Also, M4 hicaps have the bottom half filled with the mechs... if you want to cut it in half there is no more place for BB storage, it would not work.

You should use Solidworks to make more design like this, you'll fell in love with it im pretty sure. I hate CAD for 3D

I've always wondered why there wasn't an AEG SKS, but then again when I remember that a REAL SKS is only about $200-300, I'd much rather get something cooler like the M1 Garand - something much harder to get/afford in real life.

Not much market I guess?
