VFC FN Scar-H

Does anyone own this AEG? I just purchased it from Airsoft GI and am quite stoked about it. From what I understand VFC have very tight quality control and make the best looking Scar models. Would like to know what current owners think of this AEG.

got the L version.. amazing, would not sell it even if the gearbox explodes.. this is a collection piece lol my favorite AEG at the moment (from the 19 total I owned)

Externals are awesome (got the licensed version)

internals are quite good out of the box, you don't NEED to upgrade it.

You will not be disappointed with it. You will be amazed by the external finish. While not perfect (I had a few machining marks on my rail), it is very good and impressive. A local machinist was convinced the plastic lower receiver was metal until I told him it was plastic.

You probably know enough about what's good about it. As much as I love my SCAR, it came with barrel wobble which is easily fixable, the hop up unit is very tight so a thicker barrel+hop up rubber combo will not fit. Gearbox is a pain in the ass to work on because the selector is stupid. Be careful in the cold, mine did some funny things, but fixed itself when I took apart and reassembled the gearbox. As much as I love the internal wiring, it means you can't use the gun in the rain because the wiring will corrode. Battery compartment is small with a huge fuse, and the cap pin is retarded.

I love my Scar-h, the first things I did, lose the fuse and replace the clear piston, as Pestobanana said proprietary hop up unit has a slightly smaller inside diameter (I think), the rubber that works for me was clear gaurder as for the battery cover pin I just wrapped one of those silicone bracelets fits nice.

all an all best gun I've owned
oh as for the gear box the ambi fire selector allen key is 0.09 (F***ing small )

Mine is the newer H SSR sniper without the trades. I had a choice over the G&G which had the trades. After looking at a G&G, I got the VFC SSR that no longer have the trades, and it still looks better than a G&G with trades.

The detail and workmanship is amazing. The VFC hides the wires when you fold the stock. The G&G has a hacksaw hole for the wires to feed through.

The VFC has a functional charging handle that exposes the hop up. The G&G does not.

The finish is so much nicer on the VFC over the G&G. Don't know why FN gave the contract to G&G when VFC was doing a better job.

The inner diametre is small, my PDI W-hold didn't fit so i bought a Guarder clear to stuff in. Prometheus barrels may not work either, because their outside diametre is larger than any other barrel I've owned.

The piston is actually pretty good and doesn't need replacing, but of course it doesn't hurt to replace it. The air seal after I relubed and stretched the O-ring is very good, I'm getting a consistent 345 fps with a M90 spring. After fielding it twice I opened it up to check things out and the piston showed no real signs of wear, only "breaking in".

He's located in the GTA. Importation along a certain set of rules was never illegal, ASC just made it seem that way.

Yes I am Canadian. This isn't the first AEG that I have coming in from the States so I am not worried.

Indeed I have looked up quite a bit on this AEG, and most reviews say pretty much the same as you all have said, AMAZING externals, but internal modification can be a hassle. I will be using this as my indoor/cqb aeg due to modification complications.

No it's not, at least not anymore. You just need to tell the retailer to include the appropriate documentation proving that the gun meets importation requirements. Airsoft GI actually does this by default for Canadian customers now, there's a page on their site explaining it.

My friend has the SCAR-L and he has problems with the piston stripping (400 FPS) with 11.1V battery. The outside looks great, very solid.

I've ordered from Evike before and paid for a proof of FPS, but that was worth nothing at the border when I tried to bring it across (BC). The officer said the piece of paper they provided meant nothing to him.

I eventually did get the Thompson across after a second, more knowledgeable, officer came along and cleared things up about FPS rules, but I digress, and would not try to walk across another airsoft unless it's on the safe list.

I haven't had any problems importing as of yet. I confirm the brokerage fee anal fucked me so hard I had to get re-constructive surgery... I still saved over $150 though. The externals are quite nice, and the performance out of the box also. I heard internal upgrades are going to be a bitch but I will definitely swap for a longer tight bore, hop-up unit (stock is plastic), bucking+nub, and air nozzle. Well you know, the standard stuff that makes an AEG more reliable and accurate.
