Eotech Red Dot Sights GBBR
I was just wondering if its absolutely necessary to use shock resistant sights on GBBRs
I was thinking of running an Eotech 551/2/3/5/7 (replica scopes made by hurricane or A.C.M -> I can't justify dropping $500 on a scope thats more expensive than the gun) on my HK 416 and I heard I need to use something shock resistant Also what are your thoughts about the best Eotech red dot sight (no need for NV, and may have to be aligned with a magnifier) Finally, most economical places to get them? - torontoairsoft? airsoftdepot? ventureairsoft? hero surplus? |

If I was getting a clone Eotech it would be the one with the crosswise battery compartment so not in line with recoil.

There's actually some pretty good paintball holographic sights that are very shock resistant and are very durable. I used to paintball regularly and have taken multiple paint balls directly to the lens and furniture from very close distance and that bitch still works beautifully. They aren't very pricey either. Having something on a GBBR that is super shock resistant isn't required as most of the airsoft sights on the market are somewhat shock resistant, however you will have to resight from time to time. Even with "shock resistant" sights you will have to make adjustments from time to time, just less often. Either way they won't be major adjustments, just a couples clicks one way or another.

Your only two solutions are the one with the CR123 cross-side or a real one.
The problem with all the ones with in-line batteries is that the springs are too weak. When the rifle recoils, the batteries disconnect and turn off the device. Mines also lost zero after a few mags. Quote:
I have a A5 with a heavy bolt (for more recoil) and it's not even kicking as much as my GBB pistol, way less than my SCAR or M4.

I don't know much about CR123 cross-side, but I have a EXPS-2 (real deal). It was not only freaking accurate, but almost immune to the shock. I'll go for a real one if I'm you. Well, for me, I believe in "why get a knock-off when you can go real deal".

I've got a hurricanE 553 that works fine on my WE. I'm ok using it until it becomes problematic at which point I'd shell out for a real L3

seems like with these eotech clones it does not really matter unless you get the real deal, the only thing that its worth looking into is if it fits the rail properly. I've read some reviews on some a.c.m ones that owners needed to make slight modifications to the mount for it sit properly on the rail.
@thpethalK, your 553 is the quick detach one right? do you find you have to zero it again after shooting a few mags? |

My ACM EoTech 552 works well without losing zero. I've witnessed marked the dials just in case but everything works so far. My previous 552 destroyed itself though.

I have 2 eotechs: 1x real 552 and 1x clone. I noticed that the clone one every time i use it on my We M4, i had to realign it to my gun. But the real one is spot on everytime, even when i remove it and put it back on. But at the end its your choice and your budget.

zero seems to be fine so far...I've put maybe 20 mags through it already.

I use to have two of the Huang EOtech knockoffs (ACM): the 557 and XPS.
They both seemed to survive recoil okay and keep zero (I use a heavier buffer so my WE M4s kick a bit harder than stock). GBBRs are awesome but the recoil is nowhere near that of a real firearm; the optics probably suffer worse shocks from the drive to the field and back.

in my case, I have 2 eotech clone from Huang, 1 broke down after 35~ 40 mags of rounds through my M4, 1 still working on my mp7 however I don't think it will last longer than the other one on M4. best bet is get a hurricane clone, I 've heard lots of positive about them, or get the real eotech and you wont regret it. the problem with eotech clone is, they were not design to hold zero under recoil, they were made only to replicate the look of the real one, even the shock-resist one they just have slightly better internals than other which are still toys, and they will break down under recoil for sure.

I was going to keep this little jem to myself.
Why buy a 'replica' when you can get one made for real steal for roughly the same price? Amazon.com: Sightmark Ultra Shot Sight QD Digital Switch: Sports & Outdoors There are a few different models (some support NV, some dont) The prices seem to vary between 65~ and 150~ ish Top end supports NV & has built in laser. The reviews all seem to be in the same ball park. "I cant even justify spending more money on an EOTech with this working as well as it does. ” Disclaimer : I DO NOT OWN ONE, NEVER HAVE. If anyone buys one of these, do a review. I have a strong feeling these should be big sellers for the GBBR crowd. -alex |

Be patient and shop around until you find a used one at a good price. My hurricanE works fine so far, what I need is a real G23. This ACM one I have won't align no matter how much I shim it and the hinge wiggles far too much for my liking.
