So I have trouble with Propane filling...

I got all excited to shoot the wife's Christmas gift to me (KJW KP-07), my first GBB pistol, hell my first GBB of any kind.

So today I went and got a Coleman propane tank, and got home, used the AI Adapter, loaded up 15 BBs into the magazine, and well the gun stopped firing before I got to the last round. ops:

I counted to 4, since that what the sticker on the gun said, guess I counted too quickly because I ran out of gas after the 12th shot.

Still across the living room/dinning room ~20 feet, rapid fire, I managed to get a 2.5" group at the furthest, average was half that.

I read somewhere that torch propane is better to use than the cooking propane...something to do with the torch gas being cleaner...i could be wrong but that IS what i read....somewhere on this forum http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthr...=propane+torch

KJW pistols are gas guzzlers, and 8/10 times it wont complete a full mag. This is my experience with kjw pistols

I have the KP-07, I'm easily able to get 20 rounds out of the mag. It is hard to fill sometimes, however. I'm unsure as to whether or not something is wrong with my fill valve causing that problem. Just letting you know that your gun can get more out of it than 12 rounds.

ROF will also affect your gas efficiency.

Like was said your rate of fire will affect mag cool down and gas consumption. As well the 1911 is a single stack mag so it's a small gas reservoir. Combined with a metal slide I'm not surprised you can't get through an entire mag of BBs.

I read that thread, but as m102404 said to use Coleman gas, and from what I gathered most probably use Coleman (the reason there is that gage on the new adapters is because of Coleman I believe).

I'd have thought the opposite, contaminates are not as important in gas your burning to solder, compared to possibly contaminating food.

Interesting to know, figured it would not be too bad, considering they are 1:1 clones of TM, but full metal, which needs more energy to cycle I'm sure.

Interesting, that could very well be it, I fired in very rapid succession. Just enough time to get the sights back down to eye level and I was already pulling the trigger.

You should bear in mind that you don't really want to transfer "gas" to your mag from the propane cylinder. You want liquid. To that end: Be sure to fill the mag completely vertically upside down and make sure you allow the mag to fill. Give it more than 4 seconds if necessary.

Ive looked up this issue as I also have a KJW pistol. From what I have been able to google, it seems as if there are issues with their magazine fill valves. Various people have reported the same type of problem. I have three magazines and they range from 10 - 15 shots per fill. I know I don't have a leak because I can leave them for hours or days and I still get the same amount of shots.

What some say may help is depressing the valve and shooting some silicone lube in there but it didn't resolve my problems. I will eventually resort to purchasing some new valves to see if that fixes it but haven't gotten around to it yet.

I suppose the other possibility is that the gun is just a huge gas hog for one reason or another.

I've had a KA M203 shell that's been holding gas for over 2 years now, but it still only gets one shot per fill.
The KJ's just aren't gas efficient, it's usually either the weight of the slide, or the design of the valves that makes them inefficient.
But here's some food for thought; If it's a 1:1 replica of a TM, it's using a TM plastic pistol spec to move a much heavier metal slide. So they most likely sacrificed gas efficiency to move the heavier slide.

Just for clarity, I wanted to point out that KJW pistols are NOT 1:1 clones. At best, they are 90% clones (there are a number of parts that aren't interchangeable without swapping an entire assembly), and not very accurate clones at that.

Here's some food for thought; I regularly build full metal TM Hi-Capa's - some of which can put out over 70 shots per mag fill. On average, they're putting out over 50 rounds per fill.
