New Member Needs Some Insight

What's Up Guys!!. I have just joined this site, as i am looking for some helpful information.and to also meet some guys to play airsoft with.. I am thinking of buying my first air soft gun soon, I have done plenty of paint-balling and have owned a few pellet guns. I am constantly playing BF3 (BattleField 3)..And now it is time to take my skills to a real battle field with fake guns. lol. I have my eye on 2 guns that i think i will like for the price...I was told "You Get What You Pay For" My budget will be a little over 300$(Hopefully with Battery/Charger)

.The 2 guns i am looking at are..

1. King Arms Colt Licensed M4A1 - Full Metal?
2.WE M4A1 AEG (Safe Mode releases spring tension)?

I have already read a few threads on these 2 guns.. and i am kinda leaning towards the King Arms.. The WE looks sweet but there isn't enough good feedback on it..And there seems to be alot of good feedback on the King Arms..They are pretty much the same price...If you could tell me your choice that would be great..

I have came across some misleading information on the king arms M4a1 about FPS.I think i would do fine with 380-400 as a "Noob" so im hoping to get a gun in that range..But here's the problem..These are 2 websites I am looking at ordering from. I will show you the info

It all hinges on what spring is in the box. Contact both sites and find out what they've got going on.

So when these guns were manufactured they threw random springs in the mix???

Orange Tip will be swapped/painted immediately

thanks for the replies

depending on WHEN the gun was imported into canada, it could have fallen under the old 407+fps rule or the new 366+ fps rule.

A teammate just recently purchased a KAm4a1 and it shot 420 out of the box, so this meant it was an old one imported last year or early spring. Depending the stock of parts on hand at the manufacturer as well, they may not have run out of 400+fps springs until long after the rule changed, so guns coming in may still have been shooting higher than 400.

Best bet is when you buy the gun, have it chronoed at the store to find out if you need a spring swap or not.

I would take the KA over the WE.

Awesome thanks.. that pretty much clears it up..pretty sure the company is based out of the states, but have a factory in Canada they say they ship out of. I read if you order from the states That your **** might get seized at the border so i definitely not going that route..So if its say 375 FPS then i want to swap the spring 400 ?? I'm not in Toronto so i wont be able to have it chronoed at the store..
Thanks for the reply

Yes, the most effective way to alter the FPS is to just change the spring.
Springs are inexpensive, but be sure to do some research/watch some videos before you go opening up your gearbox to swap out the spring.

I've noticed in a few videos The ones without the Orange Tip are only around 310 FPS.
So i want the Orange tip and ill just Paint it..Hopefully the one i get is 380 or so FPS. That should be good for outdoors?? First Gun so i wont be changing anything to quick lol

Please don't associate Video Games with Airsoft =.=, anyway KA over WE, there has been plenty of debate of this, KA is a much more reliable company as they have been making AEGs way longer than WE

I haven't learned much from it.
I'm not someone who can be relied on to be particularly tactical in an airsoft match, because I don't have very much experience playing airsoft.

As for chronoing your gun, you'll need a proper chronograph for an accurate read. If you drop by a paintball field, they may let you use their chrono (usually for a small fee). Paintball chronos will sometimes give slightly different FPS readings than one "for" airsoft, but it'll give you an idea. I don't think a general speed radar is usually designed to pick up something as small as a BB, and shooting AT the the speed radar is, of course, not recommended.

There's also the coke can chrono, if you wanted to get an idea of what FPS range your gun falls under.

I know if you buy your gun from TA in person, they'll open it up, make sure it shoots, etc, so they can probably chrono it for you before hand. Contact them before you order, and they can let you know. If you buy a new spring as well, they might even change the spring for you (for a fee) before shipping it to you. It never hurts to send them a message asking.

if your gun is shooting 370ish out of the box no need to bump it up to 400. 400 is a limit NOT a goal.
