Training opportunities in Toronto/Ontario

Hey all,

I recently decided to get into airsoft because of it's more realistic nature compared to paintball which I have been playing for some time (i.e your gun actually has a mag and you need to change it) therefore allowing for better training. Now I just need somewhere to train. I'm sick and tired of Pouring over books and field manuals and feeling like a loser room clearing my house by myself. I want a teacher and I want to learn new combat skills with other people.

SO: where can I get this kind of training in Ontario/mainly Toronto?

Went to check out the TTAC3 last week and it seemed pretty awesome, and I've heard CQB paintball offers classes but I've been a patron their for a while and never saw head or tail of one. Army reserves is out of the question till April, so don't be a smart ass. Any other suggestions?

Occasionally you'll see "Noob" days or "Training" days for people entering airsoft. I haven't seen one for a while mind you.

I'll talk to Brian and see if we can do some beginner ATQ courses soon this Summer. ATQ1 is almost always dropped as it's something you can literally breeze over when introducing ATQ2.

From this thread: http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthr...highlight=ATQ2
-------------

12. What is ATQ training?

ATQ stands for Airsoft Technical Qualification ATQ courses focus on skills useful for urban combat or actions inside buildings. there are currently 3 developed ATQ courses with a 4th to be added in the FALL 2010 season. They are.

ATQ1- Introduction to Airsoft, This course is ideal for the person with no experience in firearms or airsoft. The course goes over the basic laws of responsible airsoft ownership, Basics of weapon handling and an introduction to Close Quarter Combat. It also goes over the rules and conventions of participation ate TTAC3. If you have never played before and have no one to vouch for you that is an experienced participant you must take this course before participating in TTAC3 activities.

ATQ2- Introduction to CQB- Tactical Pistol. This course looks at the basics of reflexive shooting with the pistol, including the concepts of natural point of aim, stance transitions, shooting while moving, Tactical reloading. In addition the basic individual skills of movement and tactics of close quarters combat is examined. Candidates will operate in 2 person teams and need to have a GBB pistol with 2 magazines and full face protection. Prerequisite ATQ1 or waiver from instructor

ATQ3- The Fireteam in CQB This course leverages the basics of the ATQ2 and moves into the study and practice of the actions and tactics of the 4 person fireteam in Close Quarter Battle. Shooting skills are reviewed and applied to the SMG and Carbine. Order of movement, obstical drills, contact and breaching and entering drills are extensivly examined and practiced with a view to developing functional ability. Candidates must have a primary weapon AEG SMG or Carbine with 3 lowcap magazines,Secondary weapons GBB pistol with 2 magazines, Load bearing vest, Single Point primary weapon sling and holster for the seconday weapon. A helmet and gloves are recommended along with full face protection. Prerequisite ATQ2

ATQ4 -Fireteam leader in CQB This course relies on the teamwork developed in the ATQ3 course and looks at concepts of command of the fireteam in CQB. Team Standard Operating Procedures are developed and unit cohesiveness is capitalized. Team communication and co-ordination is developed to high standards. Command of multiple Teams is introduced in this course. Prerequisite ATQ3

-----------

To break this down, most people can complete ATQ1 and ATQ2 with little effort, but it adds a great base to learn how to shoot and move and conduct yourself when fighting with team mates. ATQ3 and ATQ4 are advanced classes. You will take a lot of information away from those no matter what your experience is.

That thread I posted is very outdated (although the majority of the information is still relevant), if you have any questions about training, where to train (not just TTAC3... though for airsoft in Toronto it's the only place that actually teaches how to shoot, and not just play games), feel free to PM me and I'll get you all the info you need.

Even after been playing for 3 years I would love to attend to one of these events. Even when one knows how to do something through empirical learning, it is a good idea to learn some proven techniques.
