Possibly the hardest connector to fine yet!

So I'm thinking about building a new set for my radio, but the replacement PTT I just got has this weird connector on it: 7.5mm trrs. Sounds simple enough, but the only one I could find is out of stock and at 14 bucks a piece! Sheesh!!

Any ideas where to look for this connector other than to buy a whole new headset and take it apart?

Buy the correct PTT for your radio?

I'm not sure what's going on here. Which end is wrong?

not that the end is wrong: I want to build a throat mic and earpiece set because the calavary won't fit under my new helmet. Read the post

I read your post and no where in your original post do you express your intentions for a throat mic and ear piece since your headset won't fit under a helmet.

I too thought you were looking for a connector. Re-read your own post if you want to make sure you're clear about things!

I too did not understand what you are having problems with!

A trrs is a Tip-Ring-Ring-Sleever connector- standard stereo headphone plugs are called Tip-Ring-Sleeve (or trs) connectors. Does that help?
When i'm saying "building a new set" it just means that I'm planning on building something custom: fair enough?

You'd expect people to be a little more competent in putting together a few dots, but I guess I'll have to spell it out:
Looking for 7.5mm trrs connector to build new headset (does it really matter what kind of headset? it's a headset that does the same function)
looked online for the connector: didn't find any available and the ones that I did find (which were still out of stock) was 14 bucks a piece.
This is a request to ask people for advice on where to find one said 7.5mm trrs.
One possible solution known is to buy a new item with the connector in question built onto it, but idea is too costly.

I could have sworn they had some of those in a store here. I'll look on the weekend and see.

If I remember the store's name before then I'll post that up here too.

Looks like a HK or China copy of the Amphenol/Nexus TP-120 plug. Not sure if the dimensions are exact but you can try the manufacturer here.

Best of luck,

Looking for good throat mic talk to Steve at SRS Tactical, the mic is called the avenger. They also make custom PTT's to your ends desire.

Wow, that's quite useful. Thanks a lot for the reference: sure looks like it alright. So it looks like I'm looking for a tp-101. Still hard as all can be to find online and buy (without buying 2000 of them)

could you just stop being so fucking arrogant and maybe understand that YOU were NOT clear with the first post.

People won't help you if you are such an ass.

How I don't understand how "I'm working on a pet project but I need this connector" didn't get across is beyond me honestly: I've showed this to other poeple on ASC and they got it on the dot. A good portion of my frustration is probably also from trying to deal with my iAnnoy (imean iPhone) bricking on me ever 24 hours.

*sigh* okay, okay, fine, fine: I admit, i'm a little flustered about all kinds of stuff happening around me and I appologise for being a dick, but it's really hard to keep all your cool when everything outside of my bedroom is a technological nightmare dealing with dropped router signals constantly, iAnnoy 3G and iOS 4.2 constant bricking, other iAnnoy 3.0 finally bricked and had to be erased while technologically issued mother freaks out about forgetting to backup her stuff with a computer that derps iTunes like there's no tomorrow, struggles with trying to get car rides arranged 3 time more franticly than usual, no money to upgrade any hardware around the house, and a good friend's funeral coming up in 3 days. Can we PLEASE get back on topic here and stop harassing me?
