H&K 416 GBB Conundrum
So here is the deal.
I want a HK416 GBB with full trades and so far I have narrowed it down to the following options. 1. WE HK416 GBB (No trades), so this would be my last choice - I can get someone to engrave the receiver/bolt/etc, seems like a huge pain in the ass to get the trades correct, cost, etc. 2. VFC/Umarex HK416 GBB (Trades, however I have read that they are not very good as compared to the real steel) 3. AFC/WE HK416 GBB (No one has any stock) 4. Iron Airsoft H&K 416 Kit for the M4 ($350 for the kit and you still need the internals as far as I can tell, So I would end up with 1.9 guns and spend well over $800 to have one complete gun Anyone have any decent input on this one - What would you do? |

Personally, for the sheer sake of availability of internals and externals, WE is really the best option to go. And engraving can be done at any point in time.

I'm like you. I want trades on my guns. I love my KWA KZ75 to death but looking at it right now makes me want to puke a bit. But for reliability x cost... Have it engraved.

I think there is a full trades one in the classifieds. If you can't find one that has all the trades, just get it engraved. It's pretty cheap to do. It's just a bitch to find all the markings to do it. Also, if you want some of the trade marks, I've been working on a collection of trade marks for the 416. I was in the same boat as you.

Yes, I have a buddy that does engravings. Look up djbordie on here. For filling in the lettering after, mix some acrylic paint with a few drops of zippo lighter fuel and just use a small brush to fill it in. The paint will flow through out the engraving and you just need to wipe away the excess. Model painters trick to fill in fine lines.

He is a great guy and he takes a step further to fully satisfy the customer. Scroll down, you'll see his post with HK416 photobucket link. He does laser. I suggest to email him and he'll probably answer your questions. Last edited by Eien; November 14th, 2011 at 14:53.. |

You will need to provide him with the actual markings that you want. He'll just then copy the markings and size it up on the receiver before doing it. Even the markings done by AFC/WE isn't exactly the same as the real steel. djbordie will do a nice job and will be as close as the picture you provide him. Email him and ask him about the details.
