M4 battery placement with RIS
Hi guys,
Not too long ago, I bought an RIS rail for my CA M4. What I didn't know was that the battery (9.6v) could no longer be fitted inside the 'foregrip' section. With the stock battery, what options do I have to integrate it to my gun and not just have it 'taped' to the side of my rail. 1. Lazer case? 2. Magazine box (double magazine) 3. Rewire to the back (however my battery won't fit in the back?) |

You pretty much just answered your own question.
The AN/PEQ case is the easier option: batt in mag and moving the battery to the back will both require rewiring. Will also most likely require a new stock.

Personally i hate the look of battery bags on the stock. I had a PEQ battery box on my M4 when i switched it to a RIS system and i liked it at the time. Now my personal prefference has switched to rear wired and a crane stock. I find it to be better astheticlly. Perfect time to upgrade your stock if your not happy with it.

Crane stock for better balance. Looks nice and no exposed wires.
Have a PEQ and RIS adds a lot of weight up front visible wiring. |

This is designed to fit INSIDE of the RIS rails.

If you do decide to wire it to the rear, you'll need a crane stock to hold a 9.6V nunchuck battery.

Had the same issue with my CA M4, just picked up a PEQ battery box and if you are neat about it you can hide the wiring pretty well. As the gun is made for a front battery you will not notice a difference in weight on the front end.

I have a 2000mAH Lipo in my crane stock which lasts all day.

Kills the realism IMO. Most AR platforms are front-heavy just purely due to the accessories added to the front. From a comfort standpoint I can see what you're trying to achieve though.

I choose practical and comfort over realism.
The only PEQ box I like is the PEQ15 but that is limited to tiny batteries. FLIP, Since your wiring is in the front, give a PEQ box a try before spending $$$ converting to rear battery Last edited by SuperHog; November 9th, 2011 at 17:21.. |
