Turnigy nano-tech LiPo Battery Series
Just received this battery in the mail this week:
I got it from Hobby King (hobbyking.com) in HK for $5. Five bucks! With the cheapest shipping option it shipped to my door for a grand total of $11. It travelled from HK, through Singapore, via Swiss Post (of all things) and took less than two weeks. Hobby King claims to be acquiring a warehouse in Canada, so shipping is about to get a lot faster for some items. As you can see, there are two sticks and it is intended for a crane stock. I was easily able to fit it in the same crane battery tubes as my 9.6V 1600mAh Intellect battery goes into. I'll be re-wiring it with a Deans connector. So far this battery seems to be in lively condition out of the box and was packaged securely. Turnigy as a brand seems to be well-liked / trusted in the R/C community, so I figured for 5 bucks it was worth a shot. I like that Hobby King's does not mark up "airsoft" batteries on their site relative to their regular R/C batteries. The only drawback I can see right now is that all their "airsoft shaped" batteries come with Tamiya connectors as opposed to Deans (and their non-airsoft batteries often come with XT60 connectors), but I have no problems re-soldering connectors. Other than superstitions about buying from Hong Kong, is there any reason at all that anyone can think of that I should ever buy the much more expensive Intellect or Intellect-sold-as-G&P batteries? 5 bucks is a pretty gigantic discount from the locally-available G&P LiPos which run anywhere from $27 - 50 before tax or shipping (depending on the spec/shape of the battery). I can understand markups on AEGs but not as much with batteries. At the prices local shops are charging for these, a group of frugal players could buy a whole box of them for the price of one locally... This seems like a much better option for me and some of my more budget-minded airsoft playing friends. Anyway, I'll post again once I put this battery through more abuse. |

Pretty sweet. I've been using hobbyking for a while. Was real handy when I converted my M4 to LiPo. Instead of using $45/pack 9.6v 1500mah NiMH in my AN/PEQ-15, I switched to $9/pack 7.4v 25C 1600mah LiPos, and had enough room to put the triggermaster in the PEQ with the battery lol

Also, do you have any favourite battery packs they sell that I should look at? Have you ever toyed with the idea of going wild and crazy and switching to their XT60 connector across all your guns ? I've been spending some time reading about XT60 on RC forums, and the consensus is that it has some definite advantages over Deans connectors (easier to solder, easier to connect in a hurry.. etc) |

I've never had a reason to move away from deans, they do everything i need them to do
All the packs are quality turnigy stuff, never had any problems and they've got a shitload of differently dimensioned packs, you really just have to pick a voltage and C rating you want and browse for an hour till you find something that takes up the room you need it to lol |

Deans have the same rating as the XT60. Also Deans are smaller and easier to tuck away in a airsoft gun.
Did you guys not see the new Nano Tech Lipo going for $9 for 7.4V 2000 mAh. Just picked up two packs last week. |

Hobbyking batteries are great. I use them in my airsoft guns, planes, helicopters, everything that doesn't require specific approved batteries for some of my race cars.
Just be advised that the defective rate is a bit higher with these batteries. To date I have bought well over $1500 worth of batteries for myself and others, and I have had exactly TWO batteries be defective. Maybe I'm lucky, lots of people said they have had worse luck, but the general rule is always buy one more battery than you plan on needing. |

Hobby King batteries quality are very good. Defective batteries are not their fault. They buy the cells from a manufacturer and assemble them. They do their best with good assembly and hope the batteries don't fail under use.
I havn't had a single Hobby King battery fail yet just those that die from old age. I have had big name and expensive batteries like Thunder Power fail. Remember NiMh and NiCad also have their own failures in the past. |

I wish hobby king would give me a straight answer about the chargers though. The product description says the one I want doesn't come with a power supply, but the reviews say it does and the picture on the site clearly has a power cord in it.
I'm leery of ordering a charger from them because of this... anyone recommend a good charger from them with or without a powersupply? |

I too have recently bought a 2 amp 11.1v lipo from HobbyKing. It performs very well, leaps and bounds better than the equivalent Hot Power/firefox shitty lipo batteries. I will always turn to Turnigy for all my lipo needs now!

The first decision is, if you don't have a switching power supply then go with one that has one. Since you will be buying for charging Lipo for airsoft, decide how much current you want to charge at. The higher current chargers cost more. Also the lower the current you charge, the longer your Lipo will last. Unless you are in a rush, charge at a lower current. Then finally read the reviews. If the product has nothing but bad reviews, chances are it will get dropped from their product line. Hope this helps. |

+1 for the iMax B6, bought mine off ebay. You've got a lot more options of what you can get with it on ebay, and they will tell you if it does and what kind of power supply it would come with.

I have this one :
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s..._GENUINE_.html And you don't need to buy a power supply, it's built in. Had it for almost a year and no problems. It's also a genuine Imax not a clone. |

I actually asked about the b6ac specifically and they couldn't tell me, but now that someone has told me first hand, I can order with some confidence, thanks
too bad the 3s 25c 1800mah battery I want is on back order though... I'll have to try the 20c version. |

I love Hobbyking. I ordered 3 LiPos from them and all have performed admirably (I've had them for about 3 months). I have 2 of the 2000 mah versions that the OP got, and they're fantastic. No problems with any of the LiPos yet. They're cheaper (in price) than most and worth it if you can wait for the shipping to get around to you.
I use the Turnigy Accucell 6 with all my batteries, that I also bought from them. Keep in mind that this charger, although a very nice starter charger, does NOT come with a power supply. However I jimmy-ed one up from a left over power supply I've had no issues with it so far. I'm pretty sure that this charger will meet and exceed the needs of any airsofter. Best of all, they help with the tariff declarations! I haven't paid too much in any of the orders I've made in terms of border taxes. |
