New project gun! Micro-16/ Carter Special!

hi guys! So some of you might know, I'm a big fan of Stargate, and after watching a few times the episode Avenger 2.0, I started to consider building the Carter Special micro-16 assault rifle! Now, I took the gun's description from Stargate wiki. So, basically, I'll use airsoft terms, but it's a M4 CQBR, or for the real steel, a Olympic Arms Stubby carbine, model K23B. It has a RIS or RAS picatinny rails, to which is attached a vertical foregrip. It has also a top rail to which a Elcan scope is attached. The buttstock is a Bell & Carlson Model #6906-02 Black Textured Synthetic Thumbhole Buttstock. Carter will almost only use the Beta C-mag for ammunition.

So, on the airsoft world, because it would not have a long barrel, I would compensate range by ammunition, I'll shoot long bursts rather than precision shooting! And if you ask, YES, I'll use it outdoors, a Elcan isn't quite right for CQB!

So, do you know which gun I should use as a base?
Internally, to have a faster rate of fire, what would you use?

I think you should use a GBBR as a base especially if you're concerned about using that particular type of buttstock. I couldn't imagine a motor fitting in that tiny, thin grip.

But that raises an issue with the mag. Anyone do a cmag gbbr conversion yet?

I agree GBBR is the way to go, however if you are going to go AEG you could use this stock;



Just cut it down on the back end a bit.

When I put my stargate costume together, I was thinking about this gun... in fact, my friends were saying I should put one together... but then again, I'm not carter. :P

In avenger 2.0 she DID use standard m4 mags when the Cmag ran out, so if you wanted to be canon, it's not a far stretch to use only standard mags if you went GBBR.
The base gun looks tiny... and I would imagine if there was room in that pistol grip, you could squeeze the motor in there. Or at the very worst, you could build it up with epoxy or fiberglass/carbonweave and drill it out wide enough to fit the motor.

I would think the front end would be harder to build, it's so short! you'd probably have to get a standard m4 cqb ris and cut it down more.

7.25 inches = 184.15 millimeters That's shorter than the inner barrel of a p90 (247mm)

Have you looked at the VFC Baby? It's a very stripped down, super compact M4.

Looked at some more pictures...

And remember that most guns in the show are airsoft guns until season 5.

It seems to be an HK416 upper receiver (it's not a riser, it is juste higher) with Knight's Armament 7" RAS (free-float with a 7" barrel (not 7.5 as most that are available) and regular Colt M4 flash hider.

I would go with a GBBR too if you just want to source the stock.

Or I would go with an ICS M4 CQB-R full stock if you want an AEG. Just mod the stock to have a clear line to the large flat screw that holds the stock prong. That will let your install/remove the stock even with the grip attached to it. Then mod a grip to be thumb hole with the stock (You can make some fiber glass with 2-parts 12h epoxy and insulation fiber (pink panther kind of stuff), so there is really no reason why you can't make that stock for under 20$.

Personally I would go for the ICS route. Cheaper overall, more reliable and you can use CMags for it.

Hey, thanks for the support! I'll go AEG, as I don't want to spend too much and have the C-Mag! And I'll try to find a stock which would fit a motor, if not, I'll just do it like you told me!

I don't think anyone still makes that thumbhole stock for AEGs anymore, and it was crap quality to boot anyways, as I've heard. I think going GBBR and using a real Bell and Carlson thumbhole stock would be your best bet.
