New to everything Airsoft.

hey everyone, as it says im completly new to airsoft i recently purchased some guns. I do not intend to use them in games for airsoft but instead i will be using them a movie props for several shorts I have been commishioned to film. so i would like to know from you guys if there is a way to modify these guns to make them fire properly without any projectiles actually leaving the barrel or even being loaded in the first place.

one gun in particular that i needto focus on first is the Glock 17 gas blowback. And my Mac11 gas blowback, I hope you guys can help me figure out a way to make these fully functional without having to be loaded.

for gas guns you don't need bbs in them to fire. Electric guns have no visible moving parts when firing so people usually just shake them for pretend recoil and the effects are adding in later. thank you, i have used non moving guns before and added effects afterwards., which i had planned on doing for this but the studio that hired me bought me the props and the gas blowback glock 17 will not fire unless i have loaded BBs into it. Is there somthing faulty with this gun? or do i need to modify the mag?

as i said in your other thread, for gbbs, remove or jam the spring in the mag for it to fully operate without bbs.

I think if you remove the spring or jam it, you will lose the slide lock functionality. If you can train your actors/actresses to hold down the slide lock button while shooting, it will prevent the gun from locking back. Then when you actually want the gun to lock back, let go of the button.

Tokyo Marui has a little piece which goes into the feed lip of the mag. This will prevent the slide from lock back while still retaining the blow back without shooting bbs. I'm sure you can fashion a little piece of plastic to do the same. TM made this piece for the purpose to be use in movies and reenactments.

Use a wire cutter to cut a small piece of Paperclip and put it in the mag follower and jam it against the feed lips. If it's at a steep enough angle (easy to achieve) the pickup in the slide won't catch.

Same as putting a quarter in a 5.56 mag.

In this picture do you see that thing on the top left of the mag. If you load BB's into the mag you'll notice that the little nub thing goes down. When empty that little nub will push up against the slide lock and force it to lock the slide back.

What you need to do is either cut/dremel that off but note that it's destructive as in you won't be able to restore it to it's original condition (incase you need to have that functionality again) unless you either buy a new mag or put some sort of replacement for the thing you cut off.

The other way is to basically hold it down using some tape or something so that it doesn't push up against the slide lock and engage the slide lock to lock back when it's empty.

Do that for both magazines and it should give you the functionality you're looking for. It's only a mod to the magazine so you need to mod all the mags you require plus it's non destructive to the gun itself (ie. it's not really complicated and you don't have to take apart the gun and possibly lose parts or whatever).

This is the piece I'm talking about.

No modification is needed. You only need to slide this piece into the bb channel and that's it. You can dry fire without the slide locking back and removing this piece will restore the gun back to normal. Installation takes 10 seconds.

You don't need to have that exact piece. You just need something to stop the follower from engaging the slide catch. Find something small that fits into the bb track, but low enough that the mag still fits into the gun.
